摘要: A glass composition includes: greater than or equal to 53 mol % and less than or equal to 70 mol % SiO2; greater than or equal to 9 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al2O3; greater than or equal to 10 mol % and less than or equal to 17.5 mol % B2O3; greater than or equal to 0 mol % Li2O; greater than or equal to 0 mol % Na2O; and greater than 0.1 mol % of a nucleating agent. The sum of Li2O and Na2O in the glass composition may be greater than or equal to 8 mol % and less than or equal to 30 mol %. The amount of Al2O3 minus the sum of R2O and RO in the glass composition may be greater than or equal to −3 mol %. The glass composition may be phase separable and may have an improved KIc fracture toughness.

摘要: A glass ceramic substrate contains a glass ceramic having a compressive stress layer on a surface thereof and a crystalline phase containing LiAlSi4O10, quartz, and quartz solid solution. The glass ceramic has 60 to 80% of SiO2, 4 to 20% of Al2O3, more than 0 but less than or equal to 15% of Li2O, more than 0 but less than or equal to 12% of Na2O, 0 to 5% of K2O; more than 0 but less than or equal to 5% of ZrO2, 0 to 5% of P2O5, and 0 to 10% of TiO2. The quartz and the quartz solid solution crystalline phase account for 15 to 30% of the glass ceramic by wt %, the LiAlSi4O10 crystalline phase accounts for not greater than 15% of the glass ceramic by wt %, and a ratio of ZrO2/Li2O is more than 0 but less than or equal to 0.35.

摘要: Glass compositions and glass fibers having low dielectric constants and low dissipation factors that may be suitable for use in electronic applications and articles are disclosed. The glass fibers and compositions of the present invention may include between 48.0 to 58.0 weight percent SiO2; between 15.0 and 26.0 weight percent B2O3; between 12.0 and 18.0 weight percent Al2O3; between greater than 0.25 and 3.0 weight percent P2O5; between greater than 0.25 and 7.00 weight percent CaO; 5.0 or less weight percent MgO; between greater than 0 and 1.5 weight percent SnO2; and 6.0 or less weight percent TiO2. Further, the glass composition has a glass viscosity of 1000 poise at a temperature greater than 1350 degrees Celsius and a liquidus temperature greater than 1000 degrees Celsius.

In one or more embodiments, the glass-based material has a transmittance of at least about 88% over a visible spectrum ranging from about 400 nm to about 700 nm and a fracture toughness of at least about 0.9 MPa·m1/2, and wherein a surface of the glass-based material, when scratched with a Knoop diamond at a load of at least 5 N to form a scratch having a width w, is free of chips having a size of greater than 3w.

When the precursor glass composition is converted to a glass-ceramic article, the glass-ceramic article may include grains having a longest dimension of less than 100 nm.
