Abstract: An impact sensing system for a powered roll-up door combines an electrical switch and a breakaway coupling. To avoid damage or injury resulting from the door's roll-up curtain accidentally closing upon an obstacle or something striking the curtain, the breakaway coupling responds to such a collision by breaking away, which releases a lower portion of the curtain from between its two vertical guide tracks. Each breakaway coupling includes a set of electrical contacts that make or break in response to the coupling breaking away. When the curtain's lower portion becomes effectively derailed from its guide track, the electrical contacts disable continued operation of the door to prevent the door's drive motor from jamming the curtain. In some embodiments, the breakaway coupling is releasably held together by way of magnetic attraction between two coupling segments, with one electrical contact on each segment to comprise one set of functional contacts.

Abstract: A sectional closing door having a plurality of interconnected panels, where each panel of the sectional door, except the upper and lower panels, includes matching profiles which interlock and are guided on matching profiles of adjacent panels to form a swivel joint and that the guiding of the profiles relative to each other is obtained with an angulation such that, when one panel is positioned at 90.degree. relative to the adjacent panel, joining is insured with a component acting as a rider. The rider is designed with a U-shape that ensures it is connected to and integrated in one of the profiles of the end parts such that when one panel is swivelled to the maximum extent relative to another adjacent panel, the rider functions to insure a permanent joint and prevents the panels from becoming dislocated.

The cam arm has a threshold force required for rotation as the cam arm includes a dimple which is engaged by a spring-biased nipple. Abstract: A panel for a multi-panel folding door includes a semi-rigid, transparent partition with insulating layers disposed on opposing sides thereof. A collapsible nose seal adjacent to a lateral edge of the panel and extending substantially the length thereof is adapted for engagement with another similar panel also having a collapsible nose seal to provide an interlocking, insulated seal between the panels when the door is closed while permitting the panels to be separated when the door is opened. A magnet in the collapsible nose seal of each panel is adapted for magnetic coupling to a metal plate in the other panel to provide a weather-tight, thermal insulating seal. Each of the insulating layers includes an aperture, with the apertures in mutual alignment to form a window in the panel.

Abstract: A multi-section folding door includes first and second sets of vertically aligned panels with the panels in each set coupled together in an edge overlapping manner. Each of the panels is suspended from a support bracket attached to the panel's upper edge, with each of the brackets coupled to and suspended from a track by means of a respective trolley. A drive arrangement displaces the trolleys permitting the first and second sets of panels to be displaced toward or away from each other in closing or opening the folding door relative to an opening in a wall. Attached to an upper edge of each panel is an elongated flexible loop which is inserted in a lower slot of a respective support bracket along the length thereof. An elongated cord comprised of a hard material is inserted in the loop and positioned along the length thereof to maintain the loop securely coupled to and suspended from the support bracket. Breakaway coupling is provided along the full length of the overlapping edges of adjacent panels while the outer edges of the two end panels are each coupled in a sealed manner to a respective side frame. A sweeper strip extends from the lower edge of the panel and engages the floor to form a seal therewith. Each panel preferably includes an intermediate insulating layer, with the folding door particularly adapted for low temperature applications such as in freezers.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present disclosure, a movable barrier operator system is provided that includes a motor configured to turn a drum to pay out a cable from the drum and permit a door connected to the cable to move from an open position toward a closed position. The system includes a memory configured to store an expected variable of the door, and a sensor configured to detect movement of the door. The system further includes a processor circuit operatively coupled to the motor, the memory, and the sensor. The processor circuit is configured to: use the sensor to estimate an actual variable of the door; determine whether the actual variable is acceptable based at least in part on the expected variable and the processor circuit causing the motor to turn the drum; and change operation of the movable barrier upon the actual variable of the movable barrier being unacceptable.
