    摘要: An air-flow control device, for an engine having an intake passage and a fuel injector arranged in the intake passage for injecting fuel into the intake passage, includes an air-flow control valve, and a driving apparatus for driving the air-flow control valve. The air-flow control valve is arranged in the intake passage upstream of the fuel injector. The apparatus includes a first vacuum chamber into which the atmospheric pressure or a negative pressure produced in the intake passage downstream of the air-flow control valve is selectively introduced via a first vacuum control valve, and a second vacuum chamber into which the atmospheric pressure or a negative pressure produced in the intake passage downstream of the air-flow control valve is selectively introduced via a second vacuum control valve. The apparatus drives the air-flow control valve so that the degree of opening of the air-flow control valve becomes larger as the negative pressure in the first and the second vacuum chamber becomes larger. During an engine starting operation, the air-flow control valve is closed by introducing the atmospheric pressure into both of the first and the second vacuum chambers. After the engine starting operation is finished, the air-flow control valve is opened and the degree of opening of the air-flow control valve is controlled by controlling the negative pressure in the first and the second vacuum chambers.

    摘要: Apparatus for regulating an internal combustion engine comprises a pressure-responsive transducer, preferably of the diaphragm type, adapted for connection with the intake duct of the engine to respond to air pressure therein, and mechanical output means responsive to that pressure for actuating a throttling device to oppose increase of pressure. The throttling device may be a normal throttling device, e.g. the throttling device on the carburetor of a motor vehicle, or it may be provided in addition thereto. With the apparatus fitted to a motor vehicle, a significant improvement in fuel economy is obtained by a wide class of drivers.The apparatus may be arranged for simple connection within the mechanical linkage connecting the throttle pedal of a motor vehicle with the existing throttling device.

    摘要: An air/fuel control apparatus mounted on a racing automobile engine delivers fuel to the engine. A valve therein controls the flow of fuel to the engine, irrespective of the position of the accelerator foot pedal, and the valve is connected to a throttle linkage linking the pedal to the valve. The valve includes a double acting pneumatic cylinder means with a slidable piston therein. A movable shaft extends through both ends of a cylindrical housing, and moves with the piston. One first end of the shaft is coupled to the valve so that slidable movement of the piston opens and closes the valve to increase and decrease, respectively, flow of fuel to the carburetor of the engine. A cable rod connects the housing to the pedal so that movement of the pedal causes the housing to move with respect to the piston therein. A solenoid valve delivers gas under pressure selectively to one side of the piston to either increase or decrease fuel flow to the engine while at also controlling the rate of gas exhaustion from the opposite side of the piston to control the rate of movement of the piston, thereby to control the acceleration or deceleration of the engine. A second end of the shaft extends out from the opposite end of the housing and has an adjustable limiting member to limit of movement of the shaft in one direction by the limiting member contacting the housing.

    摘要: A vacuum prioritization system for a vehicle is disclosed. In one example, use and availability of vacuum provided via vacuum sources is allocated to higher priority vacuum operated actuators when a pressure in the vacuum system exceeds a threshold pressure. The lower priority vacuum operated actuators have access to vacuum supplied via the vacuum sources when pressure in the vacuum system is less than a threshold pressure. The approach may allow higher priority actuators to operate for an extended amount of time.
