Abstract:
A joint to connect a tubular ceramic element to a tubesheet. The joint has an internal seal housing to retain the tubular ceramic element and an external seal housing connected to the tubesheet to retain the internal seal housing. A ceramic-to-metal seal is located within the internal seal housing and a metal-to-metal seal is located between the internal seal housing and an external seal housing. The external seal housing is connected to the tubesheet. The internal seal housing is assembled in sections to allow assembly of the ceramic-to-metal seal to be assembled and tested prior to joining the tubular ceramic element to the tubesheet. After perfection of such seal, the internal seal housing and tubular ceramic element is inserted into the external seal housing and sealed within the external seal housing by the metal-to-metal seal.
Abstract:
A quartz pipe joint of the present invention can be used in a connection of, for example, a quartz pipe and a quartz pipe, or a quartz pipe 7 and a synthetic resin tube. The quartz pipe joint A has a joint body having a tapered pressing face a cylindrical sealing member 33 having a tapered receiving face 33, a lock ring which can deform to increase its diameter and deform to reduce its diameter and which can be fitted into an annular groove of the quartz pipe and a nut. When the lock ring fitted into the annular groove and the sealing member fitted into the quartz pipe are clamped by threadedly connecting the nut to the joint body, the sealing member is deformed to reduce its diameter by the function of the pressing face and the receiving face, so as to closely contact with the outer peripheral face of the quartz pipe, thereby exerting sealing properties. The lock ring engages with a groove wall of the annular groove to prevent the quartz pipe from slipping off from the joint.
Abstract:
Component connector for connecting cylindrical components includes an elastic sleeve which surrounds the components, the elastic sleeve can be braced, a radially deformable fixing sleeve is provided which encloses elastic sleeve. Elastic sleeve is braced via radial deformation of fixing sleeve in a perpendicular direction to a longitudinal axis of fixing sleeve, and at least one clamping ring is provided for radially deforming fixing sleeve. Fixing sleeve has a profiled outer wall and clamping ring has an oppositely profiled inner wall so clamping ring can be pushed concentrically onto fixing sleeve in an accurately fitting manner, during a relative rotation of clamping ring, placed in an accurately fitting manner, in a closing direction, the fixing sleeve can be deformed radially inwardly by the surface profiling; and, during a relative rotation of clamping ring counter to the closing direction, the surface profiling prevents any rotation.
Abstract:
A fitting element is configured for coupling tubing to a fluidic device having a receiving cavity configured for receiving the fitting element, where the tubing has an inner contact surface of a biocompatible material, the inner contact surface being configured to contact a fluid to be conducted by the tubing, and the receiving cavity having a receiving contact surface of a bio-compatible material. The fitting element includes a first sealing element of a bio-compatible material configured for sealing to the bio-compatible material of the inner contact surface of the tubing, and a second sealing element configured for sealing against a pressure ambient to a pressure of the fluid in the tubing. Upon coupling of the tubing to the fluidic device, at least a portion of the receiving contact surface, the first sealing element, and the second sealing element enclose an interspace, each surface of the interspace being a bio-compatible material.
Abstract:
A closure fitting for enclosing a portion of one or more carrier conduits between a first containment conduit section and an opposed second containment conduit section has: (a) a first cylindrical hollow body; (b) a second cylindrical hollow body, the second body being reversibly attached in fluid tight communication to the first body; (c) a first seal for sealing the first body to the first containment conduit section and a second seal for sealing the second body to the second containment conduit section, wherein and (d) a third seal for reversibly sealing the first body to the second body. In the invention, at least one of the first or second seals allows one of the bodies to axially move with respect to its containment conduit section.

Abstract:
A joint member that includes a cylindrical sleeve member having a first outer diameter portion having a first outer diameter and a second outer diameter portion having a second outer diameter smaller than the first outer diameter. The joint member further includes a cylindrical nut member having an inner peripheral surface on which a first thread is formed and a bottom in which an opening is formed. The joint member further includes a limit member fixed to an outer periphery portion of the second outer diameter portion inserted into the opening and in contact with an outer surface of the bottom of the cylindrical nut member.
Abstract:
Provided is a process for producing a glass-like carbon deformed molded article having a deformed section (typically, an elliptical section or a section composed of partial circles and linear portions), such as a glass-like carbon member in a deformed pipe form or a bent pipe, with relative ease and a good dimensional accuracy. The process comprises the step of molding a thermosetting resin to yield a thermosetting resin molded article, the step of deforming the thermosetting resin molded article plastically in the state that the article is heated, so as to yield a thermosetting resin deformed article, and the step of carbonizing the resultant thermosetting resin deformed article.
Abstract:
A combustor assembly includes a metal section having an axial slot that receives a ceramic section. A clamp is received about the axial slot to secure the metal section and ceramic section together. Tabs on the metal section, a gasket between the metal section and the ceramic section, and springs within the clamp deform an amount that is greater than a thermal expansion difference between the metal section and the ceramic section to maintain a clamping force of the clamp.
