    摘要: The present invention relates to a pipe insulation apparatus having finishing covers of compression-bonded structure. In a pipe insulation apparatus according to the present invention, each of elbow insulation units, T-joint insulation units, straight-pipe insulation units, and flange insulation units includes a plurality of segments which is connected so as to be separable along division lines, and each of the plurality of segments is composed of a plurality of insulation layers, and is covered by a finishing cover. The finishing cover includes: at least one joint chassis that is made of a soft metal material, and has a first insertion groove and a second insertion groove formed at a first end portion and a second end portion, respectively, and has a saw-toothed first protrusion formed on one inner side surface of each of the first insertion groove and the second insertion groove and a saw-toothed second protrusion formed alternately with the first protrusion on the other inner side surface; and a plurality of plates that is made of a soft metal material. In a manner in which one end portion of a first plate which is any one of the plurality of plates is inserted into the first insertion groove, and one end portion of a second plate to be adjacent to the first plate is inserted into the second insertion groove, and then at least one joint chassis is compressed such that the first plate and the second plate are connected, the plurality of plates and at least one joint chassis are connected so as to correspond to the curved surfaces of the pipes.

In one exemplary embodiment, a pipeline includes a pipe, insulation disposed around the pipe, a hard outer shell that encases the insulation disposed around the pipe, and a plurality of insulation panels secured around the hard outer shell that encases the insulation disposed around the pipe. The insulation panel includes one or more pieces of compressible fiberglass insulation material having an R value per inch of thickness from about 2 to about 13 hr-sq ft-deg F/Btu measured at 75 degrees Fahrenheit and a coated fabric cover encasing the one or more pieces of insulation material. The coated fabric cover has a weight from about 5 to about 40 oz/sq yd.

    摘要: The present invention relates generally to an apparatus and method for preventing disbondment in an insulated piping system that is used for conveying high temperature fluids. More specifically, an external slip wrap is shown, capable of surrounding the outer protective jacket of the insulated piping system at a location along the piping before an elbow shaped or angular change in direction. The slip wrap comprises a loosely received outer sleeve which surrounds the outer protective jacket of the piping without being bonded thereto, thereby allowing the insulated and jacketed pipe to move axially relative to the slip wrap for a selected distance once the pipe is buried in the ground.

    摘要: An insulation piece for joining with a similar piece to surround a pipe elbow of a larger diameter such as greater than 9 inches outside diameter is formed by cutting from a block of the insulation material. This is effected by providing an outer and an inner arcuate blade portion each extending around an angle of greater than 180 degrees and mounted on a holder so as to rigidly carry the arcuate blade portions substantially in a common plane and centered about a common center; providing a table surface at right angles to the plane and containing the center; oscillating the holder and the arcuate blade portions thereon about an axis at right angles to the common plane and passing through the center such that the blade portions of the ring members are exposed above the table plane and reciprocate about the axis in a cutting action; and guiding the movement of the block in a part circular path about a guide axis at right angles to the table plane with the guide axis located so that the blade portions cut through the block each along a part circular line at a radius of curvature from the guide axis arranged to match a respective radius of curvature of the pipe elbow. The blades are each cut from a plate integrally with a holder portion to form a complete closed rigid body and have carbide tips mounted in notches in one edge so that the blades retain a circular shape during cutting.
