Abstract:
There is a need for a flexible, insulated jacket that can be used to substantially enclose a pipe junction, then inject a cooling substance into the jacket, and thereby freeze or substantially freeze the contents of the junction. Industries conveying fluids, including fluids such as hydrocarbons, using pipes and valves would benefit from such a jacket. The jacket is shaped to substantially enclose a pipe junction connecting two or more pipes. The jacket includes a flexible insulated body having fasteners. The jacket has an open position and a closed position. The body substantially encloses the pipe junction in the closed position. The jacket further includes at least two fluid injection valves communicated through the jacket body.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a self-molding composite system for insulation and covering operations. The self-molding composite system may be cured to form any desired shaped for insulation and covering operations. The composite system comprises one or more layers that may create a rigid layered composite when cured. The one or more layers of the composite system may include a base layer that is a braided, knit, or non-woven fiber based substrate, an interstitial matrix layer, and customizable top coat. The customizable top coat may be a solvent based polymer solution that includes various additives that may include color pigments, additives for additional abrasion protection, additives for thermal protection, and/or additives for creating various textures or visible appearances to the composite system.
Abstract:
A covering for exposed insulation surfaces on fluid conduits for protection from moisture and other environmental factors. The covering typically includes a central fabric layer, such as a woven high density polyethylene fabric surrounded by structures having layers of alternating metal containing foils and puncture resistant polymers. The structures may be bonded to the central fabric layer by a polymer extrusion, such as a low density polyethylene extrusion. An acceptable metal-containing foil may includes aluminum foil, and the puncture resistant polymer may be polyester. The resulting covering may be cut with a hand-held implement, such as scissors or a knife or the like, may be formed into desired shapes manually and will retain the desired shape once formed. The overall thickness of the covering typically is no greater than about 350 microns.
Abstract:
A system comprising a protective jacket for insulating pipe is provided. The protective jacket comprises a first metal shell comprising an interior surface and an exterior surface, wherein the interior surface comprises a moisture protective coating, and the exterior surface comprises a film adhered to the exterior surface by an adhesive, and wherein the adhesive provides for a toolless removal of the film.
Abstract:
This invention relates to fittings for connection of pipes. In particular this invention involves a fitting receptacle which fits over a fitting. The fitting receptacle fits over universal and standard fittings and can receive pipe to make a connection between an existing fitting and pipe. The invention also involves a method of installing the fitting receptacle over an existing fitting.
Abstract:
A guard for a valve upon a buried fluid line prevents earth entering the opposed arches or the bottom of a conventional casing during installation about and above the valve permitting access after filling of the excavated cavity for the fluid line. Alignment of the casing with the valve and the fluid line is also facilitated with an upward facing bore of an upward extending upward portion of the guard which permits insertion of the end of a length of conduit during installation and allows passage of the end of a wrench in operation of the buried valve. A longitudinal cavity open at the bottom and ends and continuous with the bore is defined by a lower portion of the guard. Opposed ends extend into the opposed arches of the casing, protect the fluid line from a descendant arch, and serve as guides for casing disposition. Two lateral pairs of stabilizers extending outwardly from either end stabilize the guard with respect to the casing and the fluid line.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for protecting underground utility pipes from corrosion or otherwise. The system includes an enclosure having first component and a second component hingedly attached to form a claim-shell like enclosure. The enclosure is adapted to enclose a pipe portion and attached fixture and receive an anti-corrosion agent.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a pipe insulation cover comprises a flexible planar and generally rectangular sheet having opposite long and short sides. Gathering structure is connected to each of the short sides, and releasably fastening structure is connected along each of the long sides of the flexible sheet. The long sides are releasably connected together after wrapping the sheet around pipe valve insulation, and the short sides are gathered around the pipe valve insulation by the gathering structure.
