摘要: An active solar reflector, preferably mounted within a transparent dome, tracks the sun from sunrise to sunset to reflect impinging solar radiation into a room or other space to be lighted. The reflector includes a plurality of angled mirrors mounted one behind the other and of progressively increasing heights to intercept and reflect as large a flat plate area of solar radiation as possible. The mirrors are mounted upon a support rotatable about an axis to track the sun and to have the mirrors continuously reflect the impinging solar radiation.

摘要: The invention is a solar-powered, Rankine cycle, two fluid engine useable for many functions, especially for pumping liquids from the ground such as water or oil in remote locations. The engine driven by heat energy collected in standard collectors or in solar ponds utilizes a heated fluid such as water to transfer the heat from the collectors to a tank where a volatile working medium is transformed into a pressurized vapor. The heated working medium is then fed to a double acting cylinder where work is extracted from the working medium. The engine's valving is controlled by electric switches. The storage batteries are continuously charged by solar energy. If the source of energy is heat collected by standard collectors, a tracking device for the collectors, also driven by solar power, is incorporated in order to attain high collection efficiencies. The engine is used to drive either mechanical or hydraulic pumping devices. The invention is especially suited to remote locations, and for those purposes where constant vigil of the engine is impractical. The engine and the accessories are self-sufficient in that they require little or no maintenance, and are not dependent on a fuel or electricity supply.

摘要: The invention comprises means of controlling the insolation and radiation of passive solar thermal storage columns for heating and cooling of homes and other structures. In one embodiment rotatable insulating panels control the exposure of round thermal storage columns to daytime sunlight and the nighttime sky. A second embodiment allows independent rotation of the column and the insulation panel for further control of the insolation and radiation. In a third embodiment the rotatable insulating panels are positioned in concave depressions formed in vertical thermal storage columns. These columns include individual thermal convection means formed therein and are particularly suited to precast concrete or masonry construction. In a fourth embodiment the rotatable panels are adapted to retrofit existing masonry walls for passive solar thermal storage. The constructions disclosed can be utilized for vertical walls, sloping walls and roofs and flat roofs. Structural support must be modified depending on the orientation, however, the basic modes of operation are suitable for all orientations.

摘要: A solar heat collector utilizing an elongated vertical mast to support a rectangular parabolic reflector and a transparent cover. The mast is located at the focal point of the parabolic reflector, and the fluid to be heated enters the unit at the bottom, is partially heated as it rises by convection, enters the mast at the upper portion thereof, and is transported downward while being further heated due to the mast focal point location. The unit is rotatable about the mast to maximize heat transfer.
