摘要: The invention described herein provides a system and method for distributing and applying a configuration file from a master device (102) to a slave device (104) in a distributed control system (100). According to aspects of the invention, a configuration file is saved at a master device (102) and distributed to the slave device (104) via the data payload of a fieldbus protocol, such as the CANopen protocol. Aspects of the present invention may be used to further configure an I/O island or sub-network (108) that is attached to the slave device (104). Further aspects of the present invention may be used to repair or replace failed devices in a distributed control system (100).

摘要: Each device in an industrial automation system network or other network may have its own associated one or more performance characteristics, such as response time and/or reset time of the network device. Data may be stored representing a plurality of performance characteristics each associated with a different one of a plurality of devices in the network including a first device and a second device. The stored data may be retrieved, representing the performance characteristic of the second device. The first device may communicate over the network with the second device in accordance with the performance characteristic of the second device.

摘要: The invention comprises improvements in masonry block or precast concrete exterior wall construction that integrally combine means for passive heating and cooling of a building. Both thermal storage and heat exchange with the external environment are provided passively by means of thermal storage materials located within the wall structure and vertical conduits formed in the wall structure. The walls are constructed to form parallel vertical siphons to heat or cool interior air by means of cooling or heating exterior air either simultaneously or intermittently depending upon the relative external and building interior temperatures as well as the internal wall temperature. The masonry blocks are modified configurations of the blocks used for conventional construction and are laid up in basically the same manner with the same patterns as conventional construction. At the top and bottom of the walls, however, specialized blocks are laid to provide ingress and egress for the movement of air vertically through the wall.In an alternative embodiment the walls are constructed to form a passive air exchange for the structure. The parallel vertical siphons heat or cool incoming air by means of cooling or heating outgoing air. Thus, in this embodiment air as well as heat are exchanged between the exterior environment and the interior of the structure.

摘要: The invention comprises an insulated structural block for masonry construction formed to accept rigid insulating foam insert panels and shaped to minimize the transfer of heat by conduction through the block webs from the exterior to the interior of a structure. The foam inserts are preferably located adjacent the exterior face of the block. This permits the portion of the block on the interior side of the foam inserts to act as a thermal mass for passive solar heating and cooling applications. The blocks may be formed in a conventional block making machine by utilizing a modified mold or in a modified block making machine. The block making mold is configured to hold at least one foam insert in place as the block material is poured into the mold. The foam insert forms slots in the block webs to reduce the conduction of heat through the webs. Additional slots are formed by the mold to reduce conduction of heat through the webs and to permit the insertion of a second layer of foam insulation in the block.Alternatively, the block making mold may be configured to form the block with all the recesses and slots necessary for the foam inserts, the foam inserts all being inserted after the blocks are cured or fired depending on the block material.

摘要: Aspects of the invention provide apparatuses, systems, and methods for supporting cable redundancy in a network connecting a network controller (101) and an I/O device (109) (an adapter). An adapter includes a first port (407) and a second port (409) for receiving the same messages from a scanner (301) over a first and second transmission media (353, 355), respectively. A connection manager module (423) instructs a switching module (419) to direct the output data contained in the first message to a data structure (421) when the first transmission medium is operational and to direct the output data contained in the second message to the data structure when the first transmission medium is non-operational. Also, the adapter formats a message from input data. The connection manager instructs a switch (411) to direct the message to a primary port (407) when a primary transmission medium (655) is operational and to direct the message to a secondary port (409) when the primary transmission medium (753) is non-operational.
