    摘要: A magnetic head and disk tester comprises a base, a spindle for rotationally supporting a magnetic disk, a carriage for supporting a magnetic head support which carries a magnetic head with a magnetic read/write element, and a dual-stage positioning system that moves the carriage in two perpendicular directions X and Y. The magnetic head support, the magnetic head and the magnetic read/write element have a conmmon longitudinal axis Z. The head support is positioned such that the longitudinal axis Z forms a predetermined angle between 0° and 90° with respect to the Y direction. Preferably the predetermined angle is about 45 degrees. When the head is driven from one point of an inner track to a point of an outer track, the displacement of the head along X axis is relatively large and the displacement of the head along Y axis is relatively small.

    摘要: A method is presented for precompensation of Non-Linear Transition Shift (NLTS) in magnetic recording media using a perpendicular recording write head. The method includes maintaining a count of non-transition data bits (“zeroes”) preceding a data transition (“one”) to be written. A precompensation value is assigned which correlates to the count of non-transition data bits preceding the data transition to be written. The assigned precompensation value is then applied to delay timing of a write signal sent to the perpendicular recording write head so that the location of the actual written data transition more closely aligns with an ideal location of the data transition to be written.

    摘要: A method for providing transverse magnetic bias proximate to a pole tip to speed up the switching time of the pole-tip during the writing operation is disclosed. The transverse field disposed proximate the pole-tip helps the conventional driving field in rotating the magnetization through the first 90-degrees, especially at small angle where the effective anisotropy-field is strongest in opposing the conventional driving field. By offsetting the magnetization from its easy-axis, the transverse field also increases the torque that the collinear driving field would have on the magnetization.

    摘要: The present invention provides a semiconductor integrated circuit capable of reducing a circuit area and a magnetic storage device using the same. The circuit in the present invention is provided with a single-stage output transistor for supplying write current to a magnetic head, a current source for outputting reference current of the write current, a diode-connected NMOS transistor for converting the current to gate voltage and having a certain device size ratio to the output transistor, a regulator circuit for transmitting gate voltage of the NMOS transistor and reducing output impedance, and a CMOS circuit for setting power supply voltage to an output of the regulator circuit and controlling the gate voltage of the output transistor. Then, this circuit is applied as a write circuit in a magnetic storage device.
