摘要： A musical instrument adapted for use with a turntable. Said apparatus uses a rotary pulse generator to create musical tones when in contact with the rotating platter of the turntable. Said apparatus mounts to the turntable in such a way that a rotary pulse generator rotates when in contact with the rotating turntable platter. As the radius at which the rotary pulse generator contacts the turntable platter is increased the frequency of the tone produced increases proportionally, likewise when the radius at which the rotary pulse generator contacts the turntable platter is decreased the frequency of the tone produced decreases proportionally allowing a range of pitches to be sounded.

摘要： An auto return record player is provided which can be simply and economically adapted to function as an automatic set down player. Either the auto return player or the automatic set down player is capable of playing a record on the turntable twice and then returning the tone arm to the rest post and shutting the machine off, the tone arm being automatically set down on the lead-in groove of the record between the first and second playing cycles. The record player is of the so-called quarter panel sub base type and may be assembled in a main base or cabinet without removing the turntable from the quarter panel sub base. The record player also has a 45 rpm record adaptor which is provided with an integral stub centering spindle portion for small hole records which may be grasped to lift the adaptor to a 45 rpm large hole record playing position, the adaptor covering a separate inexpensive stub shaft which acts as a bearing for the turntable.

摘要： A cutting stylus assembly for electromechanically recording short wavelength video signal information in a metal master is supported in a cutterhead suspension apparatus. In the suspension head apparatus the cutting stylus assembly is supported by an air puck device so that the stylus cuts an information track having a given quiescent depth. Two sets of parallel spring steel suspension members are used to mount the cutting stylus assembly and air puck to an electromechanical recording lathe. These suspension members are used to control the cutting stylus assembly and air puck motion, to maintain a fixed stylus assembly to air puck plane relationship and to effect a variable preload for the cutting stylus system.

摘要： A pickup arm controlling apparatus for an audio record or a video disk player, comprising an optical detecting device provided at the foremost end portion of a pickup arm for detecting a non-recorded groove portion, arranged so that a reproduction of the disk is performed by causing, due to the detecting device, the pickup arm to make a lead-in motion while the detecting action is being performed, and stopping the lead-in motion of the pickup arm upon detection of a predetermined non-recorded groove portion, and causing a stylus to descend onto the surface of the disk, wherein arrangement is provided so that, after the pickup arm has ceased its motion during the lead-in action, the pickup arm is forced to make a reversed run only for a trifle amount or distance to thereby compensate for an overshooting which could occur during the lead-in motion of the pickup arm. This trifle amount of the reversed run can be varied. Also, during a manual lead-in operation, the overshoot-compensating action is released.

摘要： A pickup cartridge for a video disc player encloses a stylus arm unit comprising a stylus arm carrying a stylus at one end thereof. A connector plate is secured to the other end of the stylus arm via a compliant member. A spring at the stylus carrying end of the stylus arm releasably retracts the stylus arm to a position within the confines of the cartridge. A diaphragm flexibly suspends the connector plate in the cartridge at an angular orientation relative to the cartridge so that, when the stylus arm is held in the retracted position in the cartridge, the compliant member is not under stress. When the cartridge is installed in the video disc player, a support member engages the connector plate to change its orientation with respect to the cartridge such as to permit the stylus to be moved to protrude outside the confines of the cartridge without bending or stressing the compliant member.

摘要： Improvement is made in a known automatic mechanism provided for automatic pickup arm returning or for automatic record disk changing. In order to perform the known automatic operation, a single complete revolution of a gear is utilized. The gear engages a driving pinion, which rotates with a turntable, after completion of play to effect rotation of the gear for one revolution. The intention of the present invention is to ensure this engagement between the driving pinion and the gear by providing a frictional member between a pair of pawls which effect engagement of the gear. The frictional member is sheetlike and has one uneven surface to prevent excessively high frictional forces and seizure between the pawls and to reduce variations in the coefficient of friction.

摘要： In a phonograph record player having a turntable rotatable by a motor, and a tone arm for carrying a pickup with a stylus to track the groove of a record on the turntable and being mounted for swinging movement across the turntable and for raising and lowering of the tone arm relative to the turntable between an elevated rest position outside the perimeter of the turntable and an inner position corresponding to the engagement of the pickup stylus in the final non-recorded groove portion of a record; there is provided a control mechanism including a switch for controlling the motor, a switch actuator for turning-on the switch, and thereby operating the motor, in response to initial inward swinging of the tone arm from its rest position, a rotatable control member, preferably in the form of a gear, rotated from an initial position by the turntable upon the operation of a detector in response to the arrival of the tone arm at its inner position, a main lever connected with the rotatable control member, preferably by a pin on the lever riding in a cam groove on the control member, so that the lever is turned from a starting position to a displaced position and then returned to its starting position in response to a complete revolution of the control member, with turning of the lever from its starting position to its displaced position being effective to restore the tone arm to its rest position, and a member on the lever for delaying the turning-off of the switch until the restoration of the lever to its starting position in response to the return of the control member to its initial position. Such member on the lever may further carry a brake by which the return movement of the tone arm to its rest position is frictionally slowed.

摘要： An automatic record player having a record changing mechanism which is driven by a driving means comprising a first gear wheel capable of driving engagement with the second gear wheel rotatable with the turntable, the first gear wheel having a gap in its teeth which during playing of a record lies adjacent the second gear wheel so that the first gear wheel remains stationary. A pawl member is pivotally mounted on the first gear wheel for pivotal movement into and out of engagement with a part associated with the second gear wheel. An operating member is movably mounted on the first gear wheel for engagement with the pawl member to move the pawl member about its pivotal axis. The operating member is engaged by an actuating means provided on the record player. At the end of the playing of the record the actuating means causes movement of the operating member to move the pawl member into its engaging position thus bring the first and second gear wheels into driving engagement.
