    摘要: The following specification describes a bimetal in the limiter assembly of a circuit breaker to operate the trip crossbar for opening the main circuit breaker contacts. An arm is also provided on one blade of the current limiter contacts to also operate the trip crossbar for ensuring rapid opening of the main contacts of the circuit breaker in response to high fault currents. The bimetal is connected between the electromagnet winding and one of the current limiter contact blades in shunt with a path of selected resistance. The resistance is selected as desired by connecting pigtail conductors of desired size either in shunt with or to selected portions of the bimetal to control the current passing through the bimetal for controlling the heat of the bimetal in accordance with the rating of the breaker. A calibration assembly for the bimetal is carried by the electromagnetic assembly.

    摘要: A unitized combination motor starter is provided with a single insulated housing wherein a plurality of pole units are disposed side-by-side. Each pole unit includes a circuit breaker contact section and a contactor contact section. A spring powered mechanism for circuit breaker operation is disposed on one side of the pole units and an electromagnet for contactor operation is disposed on the other side of the pole units. The current carrying elements of each pole unit are arranged to provide a current loop having relatively close opposing arms so that large mechanical forces accompany high magnitude current flow. These forces are directed so as to produce a blow-off effect at the circuit breaker contacts, resulting in current limiting action to protect the contactor contacts. A removable and replaceable overload sensing electromagnet is provided for each of the pole units, and the coils thereof are of relatively high impedance to act as a current limiter during short circuit conditions to thereby protect heaters of overload relays connected in series with the unitized combination.

    摘要: A fault interrupter and load break switch includes a trip assembly configured to automatically open a transformer circuit electrically coupled to stationary contacts of the switch upon the occurrence of a fault condition. The fault condition causes a Curie metal element electrically coupled to at least one of the stationary contacts to release a magnetic latch. The release causes a trip rotor of the trip assembly to rotate a rotor assembly. This rotation causes ends of a movable contact of the rotor assembly to electrically disengage the stationary contacts, thereby opening the circuit. The switch also includes a handle for manually opening and closing the electrical circuit in fault and non-fault conditions. Actuation of the handle coupled to the rotor assembly via a spring-loaded rotor causes the movable contact ends to selectively engage or disengage the stationary contacts.

    摘要: Embodiments of an automatic single- or multi-pole circuit breaker for use in low-voltage applications are disclosed. The circuit breaker includes at least a first fixed contact this is coupled/uncoupled with a first moving contact. The moving contact is operatively connected to an operating mechanism that enables its displacement. The circuit breaker includes a kinematic tripping device driven by means of a first separating movement of the moving contact away from the fixed contact. The kinematic tripping device includes an operative member capable of tripping the operating mechanism, which in turn takes effect on the moving contact, thus determining a second rapid separating movement until the circuit breaker tripped position is reached.
