Abstract:
Provided is a broadcast supplemental data transmission device, a broadcast supplemental data transmission method, and a broadcast system that can reduce the traffic of a communication network as much as possible at the time of supplementing missing data in broadcasted content data. When “GET HTTP/1.1 If Unmodified Since Time Information”, which is a request for retransmission of missing data containing time information, is received from a receiving device, an HTTP response module determines whether there is rebroadcast of contents containing missing data based on the time information contained in the request for retransmission. When it is determined by the HTTP response module that there is rebroadcast, “412 Precondition Failed”, which is one of error notifications, is transmitted as a response to the receiving device, and the transmission of the contents through a communication network is not performed.
Abstract:
A method and system of performing high-throughput identifications of broadcast content is provided. A device can send a content identification query, which includes a sample of content being broadcast, to a server to request an identity of the content. The server will perform a computational identification of the content, return the result to the device, and store the result. For all subsequently received content identification queries requesting an identity of content being broadcast from the same source and in a time during which the content is still being broadcast from the source, the server will send the stored content identification in response to the subsequent queries. If a subsequent content identification query does not request the identity of content being broadcast from the same source or is not received during the time that the content is still being broadcast, the server will perform a computational identification of a content sample.
Abstract:
By detecting the broadcast frequency of a musical composition in radio broadcasting based on on-air information and now-on-air information being broadcast contents information, the broadcast frequency of each musical composition can be displayed on a display 26 without receiving and outputting radio broadcasting. Thereby, the user can recognize that which musical composition is frequently broadcasted. Thus, even if the user does not listen to the musical composition broadcasted in the radio broadcasting, the broadcast frequency of the musical composition can be shown to the above user.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for providing interactive audience participation at live entertainment events. The method includes providing audience members with an interactive device that presents a promotional message and includes a user interface, broadcasting audio programming to the audience member through the interactive device, querying the audience members, wherein answers to the querying may be entered by the audience member via the user interface of the interactive device, transmitting the answers to a central processor, storing the answers as audience data, processing the audience data into results, storing the results of the processing of the audience data and broadcasting the results of the processing of the audience data.
Abstract:
A broadcast response system provides, e.g., a radio broadcast listener with the ability to obtain media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using, e.g., the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by broadcast response server.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method for establishing a two-way communication feedback path between a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver includes an input portion, a processor, a user interface, a control module, and a network interface. The input portion is configured to receive a signal transmitted by a transmitter and to convert the signal to an audio signal. The user interface is configured to receive an input command and to convey the input command to the processor. The processor executes a control module for processing the input command and generating a query in accordance with the input command. The network interface is configured for facilitating communication between the receiver and the transmitter via the network and the query is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter via the network. The system includes a digital radio broadcast transmitter, a receiver in communication with the digital radio broadcast transmitter, and a network in communication with the digital radio broadcast transmitter and the receiver. The receiver is configured to establish a two-way communication path with the digital radio broadcast transmitter via the network. The method includes steps for requesting information, formulating a query, transmitting the query, and receiving a response to the query.

Abstract:
A hybrid telecommunications system, method, and device are provided. The system may include a plurality of unidentified users, a broadcaster, a source of information content, and a packet or switched network. The users may each be equipped with a transreceiving device for receiving broadcast communications and generating communications of their own. According to the method, a broadcaster may receive a first communication, the first communication being directed to the broadcaster over a packet or switched network, from a user or a source of information content. The broadcaster, in turn, broadcasts the first communication to one or more unidentified users. One or more unidentified users who received the first broadcast communication may generate a second communication which is transmitted to the broadcaster. Upon receipt of the second communication by the broadcaster, the broadcaster may broadcast it to one or more unidentified users.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved method and apparatus to collect and provide viewer feedback to broadcasts. According to one aspect of the present invention, a rating is generated for a broadcast by a server system. The rating is based at least in part on viewer feedback to the broadcast, and the rating indicates a likelihood of interest in the broadcast for potential subsequent viewers. Access to the rating is then provided so that predications can be made as to whether or not the broadcast will be of interest to potential subsequent viewers. According to another aspect of the present invention, the rating is provided from the server system to an entertainment system, and the broadcast can be selected for viewing at an entertainment system based on the rating generated by the server system. In one embodiment, the viewer feedback is received at the entertainment system in response to a feedback questionnaire.
