Abstract:
An integrated circuit may comprise a tuner operable to digitize a band of frequencies comprising a plurality of television channels, a crossbar operable to select one or more of the plurality of television channels output by the tuner, a plurality of demodulators operable to receive the selected one or more television channels from the crossbar and demodulate the selected one or more television channels to recover a plurality of transport streams, a transport module operable to multiplex the plurality of transport streams into a single packet stream, and a framer operable to: encapsulate packets of the plurality of transport streams into transport stream frames of a serial datastream, and insert filler frames into the serial datastream after every Nth transport stream frame of the serial datastream, where N is an integer.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method and system for utilizing a digital data capture device in conjunction with a Bluetooth (BT) enabled mobile device for publishing data and multimedia content on one or more websites automatically or with minimal user intervention. A client application is provided on the BT enabled mobile device. In the absence of inbuilt BT capability, a BT communication device is provided on the digital data capture device. The BT communication device is paired with the BT enabled mobile device to establish a connection. The client application detects capture of data and multimedia content on the digital data capture device and initiates transfer of the captured data, multimedia content, and associated files. The digital data capture device transfers the captured data, multimedia content, and the associated files to the client application. The client application automatically publishes the transferred data and multimedia content on one or more websites.
Abstract:
Techniques for providing core-based virtualization based upon cores provided by one or more processors of a system. A device such as a network device comprising multiple processor cores provides for core-based virtualization. According to one embodiment, a network device is provided comprising a first subsystem for processing packets received by the network device. The first subsystem may comprise a set of one or more processors, the one or more processors providing a plurality of cores. Each core in the plurality of cores may have associated memory resources.

Abstract:
A system for hair pinning-time division multiplexing (TDM) calls has a gateway positioned between a non-TDM network and communication equipment coupled to the gateway via a plurality of TDM lines. The gateway has a plurality of signal processing elements configured to encapsulate the TDM call data into a plurality of packets utilizing a protocol suitable for transmission through the network, and each signal processing element has its own time domain such that the signal processing elements operate asynchronously. The gateway also has a central processing element configured to forward the packets to the network via the network protocol. The central processing element is further configured to identify packets which are mapped to channels of TDM lines coupled to the gateway and to forward the packets to the appropriate signal processing element for transmission through the appropriate TDM channel. Accordingly, hair pinning across asynchronous time domains is achieved within the gateway.
Abstract:
An approach for transmission of data packets, based on virtual frame timing, over a communications channel is provided. A remote terminal receives a first stream of data packets at periodic time intervals. The terminal receives an allocation of time slots within a sequence of TDMA transmission frames, for transmission of the data packets over the channel. The timing structure of the allocated time slots is based on a virtual frame size relative to the interval timing of the first data packet stream, and independent of the frame size/timing of the TDMA transmission frames. The remote terminal may receive a second stream of data packets at periodic time intervals that differ from the time intervals of the first stream. In a multi-stream scenario, the virtual frame size for the time slot allocation is based on the greatest common denominator of the interval timings of the first and second data streams.
Abstract:
Systems and methods described herein utilize a distributed server network to allow for the real-time distribution of copies of a data stream uploaded from a computing device. The uploaded data stream corresponds to an environment surrounding a user (exam taker) of the computing device during execution of a testing routine for an examination. Providing copies of the data stream in real-time allows proctors as well as other test assessment authorities to ‘peek in on the exam taker's environment during the exam. As a result, the environment surrounding the exam taker can be monitored in real-time to determine whether any visual or audio activity in the environment constitutes activity not in accordance with the exam protocol. Following an affirmative determination that the exam taker violated an exam taking protocol, a proctor or other test assessment authority can then make a final or early decision regarding disciplinary action.
Abstract:
A session control apparatus and method are provided in a converged IP messaging (CPM) server for supporting a CPM session between a first client subscribing to a CPM service and a second client not subscribing to the CPM service. After the CPM session is initiated between the first and second clients through the CPM server and an interworking function (IWF), a session modification request message including specific media is received from the first client. The session modification request message including the specific media is sent to the IWF through the initiated CPM session. A response message is received from the IWF. The response message including a reason for rejection when the specific media is unsupported by the IWF.
Abstract:
In general techniques are described for applying differentiated services with a customer-aware network device. A network device comprising a control unit and an interface may implement the techniques. The interface receives a network packet that is associated with first and second labels. The first label uniquely identifies a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) within a plurality of CMTSs. The second label uniquely identifies one of a plurality of CPE devices coupled to the CMTS. The control unit determines at least one subscriber-specific service associated with the one of the plurality of CPE devices based at least in part on the first and second labels associated with the labeled network packet. The at least one subscriber-specific service comprises a service associated with the one of the plurality of CPE devices. The control unit applies the at least one subscriber-specific service to the labeled network packet received from the CMTS.
