Abstract:
In a line head, a plurality of light emitters are arrayed on a substrate in a first direction. Each of the light emitters is operable to emit a light beam. In a rod lens array, a plurality of rod lenses are arrayed in the first direction, and each of the rod lenses is adapted to focus the light beam emitted from an associated one of the light emitters onto a target surface. The substrate and the rod lens array are attached to a holder elongated in the first direction. Positioning members are provided at both end portions of the holder in the first direction. A relative position between the substrate and at least one of the positioning members is variable in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.
Abstract:
A printer assembly includes an ink supply mechanism that incorporates a printhead. A platen is operatively connected to the ink supply mechanism. A capping mechanism is mounted on the platen and has an elongate capping arm for moving towards the printhead into a capped position and away from the printhead into an uncapped position. A biasing arrangement biases the capping arm into the uncapped position. A moving arrangement moves the capping arm into the capped position.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a line light source having a light guide plate and red-, green-, and blue-LEDs, for a light transmitting original, and a contact image sensor unit for detecting light from the line light source. The light transmitting original is arranged between the line light source and the contact image sensor unit. The light transmitting original is read by moving the line light source and the contact image sensor unit relative to the light transmitting original. The line light source is moved interlockingly with the contact image sensor unit by the attraction between a magnet provided at both ends of the line light source in the longitudinal direction thereof and a magnet provided at both ends of the contact image sensor unit in the longitudinal direction thereof.
Abstract:
A device for image capture and processing for a print-on-demand camera includes image sensing circuitry. The device also includes memory circuitry for storing an image sensed by the image sensing circuitry. Analogue to digital conversion circuitry is interposed between the image sensing circuitry and the memory circuitry to digitize the image data from the sensing circuitry for storage in the memory circuitry. Decoding and processing circuitry is connected to the memory circuitry to decode and process the digitized image data stored in the memory circuitry. Drive circuitry is connected to the decoding and processing circuitry to drive at least one component of a printing mechanism of the print-on-demand camera.

Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a first reading part which reads a first side of a document, a second reading part located on a document discharge path which reads a second side of the document with an image sensor, a path narrowing member positioned across from the image sensor on the document discharge path; and an adjusting unit, wherein the adjusting unit adjustably moves the path narrowing member closer to and farther away from the image sensor in order to correspondingly move the document closer to and farther away from the image sensor. The image reading apparatus is capable of increasing reading speed when a one-side reading of a document is performed as well as minimizing any damage done to data produced by the reading when a double-side reading of a document is performed. Thus, the present invention is capable of increasing a reading speed when an one-side reading is performed as well as minimizing any damages done to data produced by the reading when a double-side reading is performed, and an image forming apparatus including the same.
Abstract:
A digital camera includes an image capture assembly, roll of print media and microelectromechanical stationary printhead. Upon capturing an image a central processing integrated circuit operates the printhead and associated transport assembly to print the captured image. A guillotine is provided to automatically severe each print. The guillotine operates a counter in order that an operator of the digital camera is able to keep track of how much print media remains on the roll.
Abstract:
Microelectromechanical pagewidth printheads include a very large number of ink ejection nozzles fabricated upon a silicon wafer. Ink stored in the printhead subsequent to a printing operation is vulnerable to becoming undesirably viscous thereby causing inconsistent printing. In order to address this problem the present invention provides a printhead recapping mechanism. The mechanism includes a base portion, that includes a solenoid coil and a movable capping portion which incorporates magnetically attractive material responsive to the coil. A spring biases the capping portion to a quiescent capping position when the printhead is not in use. During printing operations a current is applied to the solenoid coil to overcome the biasing spring and draw the capping portion from the capping position.
Abstract:
A printhead re-capping assembly for a printer having a chassis, a platen assembly and a pagewidth printhead operatively mounted on the chassis to carry out a printing operation on print media passing over the platen assembly includes a base structure that is mounted on the chassis. At least one static solenoid is mounted on the base structure and is connected to an electrical power supply of the printer. A support member is actuable by the solenoid to be movable with respect to the chassis between an operative position and an inoperative position. A printhead capping member is mounted on the support member such that when the support member is in the operative position, the capping member engages the printhead to cap the printhead and when the support member is in the inoperative position, the capping member is disengaged from the printhead.
