摘要： An alert signal of a communication device (1), such as the ring signal of a mobile phone, comprises a set of musical samples that are played by the communication device in sequence. The sequence may be randomly generated, either in response to the event causing the alert or in a set up phase. Alternatively, the user of the device can create a tune to be used as the alert signal by creating a sequence of samples. The user selects samples from a list of samples to create the sequence of samples as individual samples may appear more than once in the tune.

摘要： A modem which connects to a data terminal is connected to a telephone line capable of supporting multiple directory numbers with each number having a distinctive ring signal. The modem has a ring detector which indicates the presence of a ring signal associated with an incoming call from a remote device. The modem also includes a datapump unit capable of processing analog signals associated with a telephone line and digital data associated with the data terminal. A modem controller determines ring type from the ring signal of the incoming telephone call and alters the processing of the incoming telephone call based on the ring type. To that end, the controller may alter the processing of the incoming telephone call by configuring the datapump unit and/or configuring a controller compression/error-correction module based on the ring type before the incoming telephone call is answered. Further, the controller may direct the routing of the incoming telephone call via the data terminal based on the ring type.

摘要： A communication terminal apparatus connected to an integrated services digital network to transmit data from an outgoing call office to an incoming call office and a method of controlling the communication terminal apparatus, in which notification of a person to be called for an incoming signal and acceptance or rejection of the incoming signal are controlled on the basis of predetermined identification data contained in the incoming signal. When detecting the identification data contained in the incoming signal, the present apparatus compares the detected identification data with registration identification data previously registered so that, if the apparatus finds a coincidence therebetween, it informs the user of corresponding to the coincided identification data visually by character data or audibly by a sound. If the apparatus fails to find a coincidence therebetween then it rejects the acception of the incoming signal containing this identification data, while if it finds a coincidence then it grants the acception of the incoming signal containing the coincided identification data.

摘要： The multi-function telephone call management system enables a user to recursively activate a plurality of voice communication features on a single call connection. The multi-function telephone call management system serves to interconnect a plurality of communication devices with a single incoming telephone line. The apparatus and features provided by this multi-function telephone call management system include connection to a modem, facsimile machine, or answering machine and call forwarding, call screening, call notification and distinctive ringing services. All of the above features are provided by the multi-function telephone call management system on a single call connection by the use of the recursive feature contained therein. This recursive feature enables a caller to sequence through the various call features provided by this apparatus on a single call connection. The sequence and selection of call options are completely under control of the caller.

摘要： A call processor (32) for intercepting incoming calls to a key telephone system (10) and returning a message to a calling party. A digital message storage unit (48) stores messages associating called parties with respective pseudo-telephone numbers so the calling party can input information identifying a desired called party. A CPU (50) of the call processor (32) references a look-up table (52) with hte pseudo-telephone number input by the calling party to select and transmit a message via an intercom line (36) to the key telephone system (10). The message carried by the intercom line (36) broadcasts a message relating to the identity of the called party as well as the line to utilize.

摘要： A telecommunications system is disclosed which is user programmable permitting inter and intrapremises communications from existent two-wire telephone extension sets at a customer's premises. The system may be functionally described as a telephone call interceptor comprising a number of building blocks for providing a plurality of features which the existent telephone extension sets may not be capable of by themselves. A data processor (110) receives data input from an incoming ringing signal detector (140), a telephone signal receiver (115), a dial tone detector (160) or from an associated user-activatable data input device (117). Responsive to the data input, the data processor provides output through a speech processor (150), a telephone signal generator (116), a ring generator (119) or through an associated data output device (113) such as a loudspeaker. A peripheral device interface (114) connects data processor (110) to security, utility meter, fire detection, energy control, appliance and other devices.

摘要： An opt-out request in one example is received from a calling party to avoid employment of a specialized ringback tone on one or more subsequent calls from the calling party to a called party. A ringback tone call controller determines, based on the opt-out request, to provide a substitute tone to the calling party in place of the specialized ringback tone on the one or more subsequent calls from the calling party to the called party. After receiving the opt-out request on a call, the specialized ringback tone in a further example is stopped for a remainder of a ringing phase of the call. If a ringback tone service state associated with the calling party is an opt-out state, then in one example the calling party makes an opt-in request to allow use of the specialized ringback tone on one or more subsequent calls to the called party.
