摘要: A process for debundling a carbon fiber tow into dispersed chopped carbon fibers suitable for usage in molding composition formulations is provided. A carbon fiber tow is fed into a die having fluid flow openings, through which a fluid impinges upon the side of the tow to expand the tow cross sectional area. The expanded cross sectional area tow extends from the die into the path of a conventional fiber chopping apparatus to form chopped carbon fibers, or through contacting tines of a mechanical debundler. Through adjustment of the relative position of fluid flow openings relative to a die bore through which fiber tow passes, the nature of the fluid impinging on the tow, the shape of the bore, in combinations thereof, an improved chopped carbon fiber dispersion is achieved. The chopped carbon fiber obtained is then available to be dispersed in molding composition formulations prior to formulation cure.

摘要: A method of making a device substrate article having a device modified substrate supported on a glass carrier substrate, including: treating at least a portion of the first surface of a device substrate, at least a portion of a first surface of a glass carrier, or a combination thereof, wherein the treating produces a surface having: silicon; oxygen; carbon; and fluorine amounts; and a metal to fluorine ratio as defined herein; contacting the treated surface with an untreated or like-treated counterpart device substrate or glass carrier substrate to form a laminate comprised of the device substrate bonded to the glass carrier substrate; modifying at least a portion of the non-bonded second surface of the device substrate of the laminate with at least one device surface modification treatment; and separating the device substrate having the device modified second surface from the glass carrier substrate.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods and resins for additive manufacturing. In one embodiment, a method for additive manufacturing of a ceramic structure includes providing a resin including a preceramic polymer and inorganic ceramic filler particles dispersed in the preceramic polymer. The preceramic polymer is configured to convert to a ceramic phase. The method includes functionalizing inorganic ceramic filler particles with a reactive group and applying an energy source to the resin to create at least one layer of the ceramic phase from the resin.

摘要: According to one embodiment, a glass-ceramic composition may include from about 60 mol. % to about 75 mol. % SiO2; from about 5 mol. % to about 10 mol. % Al2O3; from about 2 mol. % to about 20 mol. % alkali oxide R2O, the alkali oxide R2O including Li2O and Na2O; and from 0 mol. % to about 5 mol. % alkaline earth oxide RO, the alkaline earth oxide RO including MgO. A ratio of Al2O3 (mol. %) to the sum of (R2O (mol. %)+RO (mol. %)) may be less than 1 in the glass-ceramic composition. A major crystalline phase of the glass-ceramic composition may be Li2Si2O5. A liquidus viscosity of the glass-ceramic composition may be greater than 35 kP. The glass-ceramic composition may be used to form the glass clad layer(s) of a laminated glass article.
