    摘要: A cartridge for a typing ribbon for typewriters comprises a container for accommodating a typing ribbon which can be of single-strike correctable or non-correctable, multi-strike or endless inked type. If the ribbon is of the single-strike or multi-strike type, the container comprises a supply reel and a tensioning and stop device co-operating with a toothed flange of the supply reel to prevent the ribbon which is wound on the supply reel from unwinding both when the container is mounted on the machine and when it is removed from the machine. The device comprises a tensioning lever for the ribbon and a stop lever for the reel, which levers are connected together by means of a resilient spring connection. The device guides and tensions the ribbon during the unidirectional feed movement thereof, in such a way as to ensure a constant stepping movement in the feed motion of the ribbon and low and constant tensioning of the ribbon. If the ribbon is of the inked type, the container comprises a magazine for accommodating the ribbon which is disposed in randomly distributed loops, a feed roller which drives in rotation a first feed wheel for producing a feed movement of the ribbon, together with a pressure roller for introduction of the ribbon into the magazine.

    摘要: A cassette for a printing ribbon comprises a casing accommodating a supply spool which has a tube on which the printing ribbon is wound. An anti-unrolling element of plastics material comprises two portions of elongate shape, which are connected by means of an integral elastic hinge. The first portion performs a guiding and positioning function and is accommodated by means of a slot within the casing. The second portion has a blocking function with regard to the tube, and is movable on the outside of the casing, by means of the elastic hinge, from an inoperative position in which it is aligned with the first portion to an operative position in which it is rotated through 180.degree. and is substantially in superposed relationship with the first portion. The second portion is provided with a hook element which, in its operative position, engages the tube through an opening in the casing for positively blocking the supply spool both during storage and during transportation of the cassette to inhibit unrolling in a simple and reliable manner.

    摘要: A thermal transfer color printer for printing color images on individual sheets of paper. One sheet of paper at a time is removed from a stack of paper stored in a cassette and this sheet is transported by a reversible platen roller in a first or forward direction at a first predetermined rate. While the sheet of paper is gripped between the reversible platen roller and one or more pinch rollers, slack is removed by a slack removing device. A multicolored ink ribbon with successively arranged color segments also is transported in the first direction at the same predetermined rate. A thermal printhead presses against the reversible platen roller to press the ink ribbon and sheet of paper together as they move in the first direction. Energization of the thermal elements on the thermal printhead by color component signals corresponding to the current color of the ink ribbon causes the particular current color to be thermally and selectively transferred to the sheet of paper. The thermal printhead then disengages the platen roller and the sheet of paper is transported in a set distance in a second direction opposite the first direction, and at a second predetermined rate, in order to repeat the process of thermally transferring other colors to the sheet of paper. During the back and forth movement of the sheet of paper, the reversible platen roller and the pinch rollers continuously grip the sheet of paper in order to precisely control the position of the sheet of paper to thereby avoid distortion. A complete color image is formed on the sheet of paper by superimposing the multiple colors of the ink ribbon as the sheet of paper and the different colors of the ink ribbon repeatedly move past the selectively energized thermal elements of the thermal printhead.

    摘要: In a printer of the type in which printing is carried out on a recording medium with a print element through an ink ribbon interposed between the print element and a sheet or paper, a ribbon cassette accommodating therein the ink ribbon has a ribbon stopper removably provided for limiting the movement of the ink ribbon within the ribbon cassette. A switch is provided for detecting the presence of the ribbon stopper in the ribbon cassette when the ribbon cassette is mounted on the printer. If the ribbon stopper is detected by the switch, then a ribbon feed motor is not energized so that the ink ribbon is not withdrawn from the ribbon cassette. Thus, the ink ribbon will not be cut off, which may otherwise be caused if the ribbon is forcibly withdrawn without removing the ribbon stopper.

    摘要: The ribbon (17) has an external run between the type element (25) and platen of a daisy-wheel typewriter. This run stretches between terminal members (59) which protrude from side arms (33 and 34) of the cartridge casing (18) and are fixed to the distal ends of arms (39, 41) pivotally mounted in the casing (18) at pivot (52). Ribbon lift levers of the typewriter raise the arms simultaneously to position a selected one of three tracks on the ribbon at the level of the typing. The ribbon is transferred from a feed spool having a flange to a take-up spool having a core tube and which are rotatably supported by the casing. The casing comprises a bottom portion having a resilient tongue with a pawl member positioned adjacent to the take-up spool and a resilient blade adjacent to the feed spool. The core tube of the take-up spool has a series of saw teeth and the pawl member cooperates with the saw teeth for enabling the rotary movement of the core tube in the direction of rewinding of the typing ribbon, but preventing rotary movement of the core tube in the other direction, while the resilient blade engages with peripheral notches at the flange of the feed spool. The casing further provides two apertures for housing a driving toothed wheel and a control lever of the typewriter which engage with the ribbon to control the feeding of the ribbon.

    摘要: A brake mechanism for controlling a ribbon spool wherein a brake member is disposed in braking relationship with the spool for retarding rotation thereof. The brake member has a brake actuator projecting therefrom. An elongated follower pivotally bears against the spool to follow any decrease in the diameter thereof. The follower has an adjustment member which creates a cammed relationship with the brake actuator for progressively moving same and decreasing the brake torque as the follower pivotally moves in response to a decrease in spool diameter. This adjustment member is positioned to impose either a zero or a minimum torque on the brake member when the spool is empty. When in this empty-spool position, the adjustment member can be initially adjusted in a direction substantially parallel to the radial direction of the brake actuator so as to not affect this zero or minimum brake torque. However, this adjustment causes the adjustment member to swing about a different arc when the follower pivots due to being engaged with the full ribbon spool, whereby the movement imposed on the brake actuator is correspondingly changed so that the maximum brake torque for any selected spool diameter can be adjusted without affecting the zero or minimum torque for the empty-spool condition.
