摘要: An improved method for making compressed structural fiberboard by extruding agricultural fibrous matter into a compressed structural fiberboard. The improved method includes providing a preselected volume of agricultural fibrous matter and preconditioning the agricultural fibrous matter to have a predetermined moisture level. The agricultural fibrous matter is separated and cleaned, and steam is added until a predetermined level of moisture is reached within the agricultural fibrous matter. Borax is also added to the agricultural fibrous matter to prevent the formation of bacteria. The agricultural fibrous matter is conveyed throughout the process on conveyors having variable drives, wherein the level of the agricultural fibrous matter on the conveyors is sensed such that a signal is provided to adjust the speed of the conveyors in order to provide a predetermined level of agricultural fibrous matter. The agricultural fibrous matter is then extruded to form a compressed structural fiberboard.

摘要: This invention is an acoustic fiber-based substrate composed primarily of insulation-type spun fibers or blends of such fibers and wheel spun fibers. The fibers are bound with a water-dispersible latex binder, or an agri-binder such as starch in conjunction with cellulose fiber. The insulation-type spun fibers can be first quality virgin, post-industrial waste-stream or post-consumer waste stream fiber. The substrate is wet-formed from a very dilute aqueous dispersion of ingredients onto a mesh forming screen, as on a Fourdrinier paper machine. By virtue of the insulation-type spun fiber dimensions, morphology and orientation: very low density wet-mats can be formed from a sufficiently dilute suspension. With respect to other wet-formed substrates, the invention is much lower in density and more highly porous, and, thus, the substrate is highly absorbing, exhibiting noise reduction coefficients, NRC values of about 0.80 or greater. Such NRC values have only been achieved with dry-formed, or air-laid processes in which the fiber are bound with formaldehyde emitting reactive resins.

摘要: A molding head is especially adapted for vacuum molding or forming of structures and, in particular, fibrous composite structures in an adjustable, controllable three dimensional orientation before, during and after molding. Such a molding head includes a mold plate with narrow slots in the mold surface thereof and wider channels in the back surface thereof, with such slots and channels intersecting one another. A control system of servomotors or other actuators permits movement and orientation of the mold head during forming, thereby creating the ability to vary the material properties based on gravity and particle or suspension grain, thickness and other now controllable properties.

摘要: In a process for producing a loudspeaker diaphragm, pulp is deposited on a paper-making mold in the presence of vortex stream of water having pulp dispersed therein in a paper-making bath. Pulp is deposited on the paper-making mold while at least the water having pulp dispersed therein is rotated by the vortex stream in the paper-making bath. Consequently, variation of pulp fiber orientation is suppressed, and a loudspeaker diaphragm with high reproducibility and stable quality is produced with a high productivity.

摘要: A web making machine is monitored to identify at least one cross-machine direction (CD) actuator that is developing local mapping problems. The identified CD actuator and a segment of surrounding actuators are probed to determine a performance curve for the actuator. The center of an insensitivity region of the performance curve is selected as an optimal mapping alignment setting for the identified actuator with the setting for the actuator being updated. Global smoothing may also be accomplished by probing a global smoothness factor to generate a corresponding performance curve that is then similarly used to select an optimal value for the smoothness factor.

摘要: A method and a device for measuring concentrations especially in a pulp suspension, from which a sample has been taken. The sample is collected in a measuring vessel, in which a piston is guided upwards and downwards in order to press the sample from each direction through a measuring sensor collected at the side of the measuring vessel via communicating tubes connected in an upper and a lower position to the measurement vessel, whereby the sample is stirred totally to eliminate flocculation in the same. Measurement of the concentration of the sample is made either during the upwards and downwards movement of the piston in the measuring vessel and first occurs when the speed of the sample through the measuring sensor is constant and the sample has been homogenized after at least some movement upwards and downwards of the piston.
