Abstract: The disclosure provides an associative polymer, a powder, a process for forming a paper sheet, and a process for making a powder. One or more associative polymers and one or more optional surfactants may be networked to form a wet gel and a powder may be formed from the wet gel. The associative polymer may have a weight average molecular weight of from about 10 kDa to about 2,000 kDa. A method may involve adding the powder to a cellulose fiber slurry, draining the cellulose fiber slurry to form a fiber pad, and drying the fiber pad to form a paper sheet.

Abstract: The invention relates to a ply of a linerboard for corrugated board, which ply exhibits high strength properties and which enables the production of lightweight linerboards. The ply of the invention comprises 20-80 wt % CTMP from wood fibers and 80-20 wt % chemical pulp, calculated on the total fiber weight of said ply and strength additives chosen from the group of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), anionic or cationic polymers and starch or combinations thereof. The ply exhibits a geometric SCT index of above 22 Nm/g and a density of below 680 kg/m3, preferably of below 650 kg/m3.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing anionic polymers that are hydrosoluble in an aqueous solution, comprising at least the following successive steps: b) polymerisation, in an aqueous solution, of anionic monomers containing at least 5 mol % of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid and/or one of the salts thereof and optionally non-ionic monomers up to a mass concentration of polymer A of between 5 and 40%, b) addition of at least one aldehyde into the solution produced in step a), and c) acidification to a pH of between 3 and 4 of the solution produced in step b). The invention also relates to the use thereof in a paper-making method.
