    摘要: A thermostable polymer electrolyte gel containing an acrylonitrile polymer, an electrolyte and a solvent, the acrylonitrile polymer having an acrylonitrile content of from 89 wt % to 98 wt % and meeting the following relationship:1,040,000-(A.times.10,000).ltoreq.B.ltoreq.1,490,000-(A.times.10,000)where A is the acrylonitrile content in wt % and B is the weight average molecular weight of the acrylonitrile polymer, the polymer electrolyte gel having an ion conductivity of 10.sup.-3 S/cm or higher at 20.degree. C., exhibiting the "retention of shape" in a thermostability test, and containing the acrylonitrile polymer in a proportion of from 3 wt % to 9 wt %. The thermostable polymer electrolyte gel can be produced by dissolving an acrylonitrile polymer and an electrolyte in a solvent to prepare a solution of the polymer, and cooling the polymer solution to a temperature of 0.degree. C. or lower.

    摘要: A new non-aqueous electrolyte system for use in batteries, capacitors and electrochromic displays, and consisting essentially of an alkali or ammonium salt, a solvent mixture, and optionally a polymer is disclosed. The new system is characterized in that the solvent mixture comprises a mixture of ethylene carbonate (EC) and -valerolactone (-VL), optionally containing one or more additional solvents selected from other organic carbonates, other lactones, esters and glymes, said system optionally being confined a separator. The electrolyte system can be applied in a broad voltage range, has a conductivity higher than 10.sup.-3 S/cm at room temperature, and shows a high stability against reduction. The improved stability towards reduction is mirrored in a cycling efficiency which is superior to the cycling efficiency of known non-aqueous electrolyte systems.

    摘要: An electrolyte system (40) for use in connection with an electrochemical cell (10). The cell (10) includes a positive electrode (20) and a negative electrode (30) with the electrolyte system (40) disposed therebetween. The electrolyte system is a polymer gel electrolyte system including a liquid electrolyte species which may be either aqueous or non-aqueous and a polymer gel electrolyte support structure. The polymer gel electrolyte support structure includes at least an non woven first polymer and a second polymer which is adapted to absorb the electrolyte active species. The first polymer is a fibrous polymer to reduce swelling of the gel electrolyte in the presence of the electrolyte active species, and further to enhance mechanical integrity of the support structure.

    摘要: This invention is directed to compositions having viscosity aging and/or gas-release properties comprising 4 to 20 weight parts of an alkaline material, particularly an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, and 0.05 to 5 weight parts of a suspending copolymer of a major proportion of an acrylic acid and a minor proportion of a comonomer, particularly selected from acrylamide, N-lauryl methacrylamide, lauryl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate, lauryl methacrylate, and stearyl methacrylate. Such compositions can also include 40 to 80 weight parts of an electrochemically active metal, particularly zinc, suspended in the alkaline material by means of said copolymer whereby said composition functions as a component part of an electrochemical cell containing a cathode, an anode, and an electrolyte wherein said metal serves as the anode and said alkaline material serves as the electrolyte.
