Abstract:
An apparatus for driving a turntable of a disc player system including a first drive voltage source for supplying a first driving voltage driving a spindle motor in a normal direction, a second drive voltage source for generating a second drive voltage for driving the spindle motor in a reverse direction, a voltage supply control circuit means for selectively supplying one of first and second drive voltages in accordance with a play command signal and a stop command signal, and a detection means for detecting the rotation of a rotor of the spindle motor in the reverse direction. When the stop command signal is supplied, the second drive voltage is supplied to the spindle motor for applying a driving torque of reverse direction to the rotor of the spindle motor and the supply of the second drive voltage is stopped immediately when the reverse direction rotation of the rotor is detected by the detection means. Thus, a very quick and accurate control of the stoppage of the spindle motor is realized.

An electrical drive vehicle with an onboard battery and a D.C. propulsion motor having means for automatically switching the D.C. motor from a series field operation to shunt field operation upon the operator actuating the braking means to convert the kinetic braking energy to electrically energy for charging, via an intermediate storage means, the onboard battery. The switching means is a variable duty cycle transistor switching means controlling the excitation of the D.C. motor in the shunt field mode.
Abstract:
The limit switch includes a diode which is connected through a spring-operated switch in circuit with a d-c motor such that, when the motor is commanded to operate in one direction and its limit is reached, the diode is placed in blocking direction in the circuit but, upon reversal of polarity of supply to the motor to reverse its direction, the diode becomes conductive so that a closed circuit is immediately established therefor, the conductive direction of the diode being maintained until a reverse limit is reached, at which time the then conductive diode will be connected in blocked direction. During operation in the normal operating zone of the motor, the diode is short-circuited. The switches themselves can readily be constructed to be cam-operated, for example from a rotating shaft which, selectively, connects the diode in a double-pole, double-throw, center-ON circuit arrangement.
Abstract:
An apparatus to produce accurately limited angular or pivotal movements of a shaft of a DC motor with a control circuit to supply appropriate signals to control the operation thereof. Position indicators are provided to detect the shaft position and a second indicator is located to detect a rearward pivot position. Means are provided to establish a direction signal to indicate direction of rotation of the shaft, and the direction signal means and the position indicators produce outputs which are connected to the control circuit. The DC motor has a motor drive which receives signals from the control circuit during movement of the motor between forward and rearward pivot positions. The control circuit produces, first, an acceleration current and then a deceleration and finally a correction current with the current dropping to "zero" when the desired angular position has been reached by the shaft.
Abstract:
A guidance system for positioning a welding apparatus with respect to a seam or joint to be welded by sensing changes in the surface of the seam. The torch of the apparatus is mounted upon and positioned by a motor-driven cross-slide providing both horizontal and vertical movement.A probe is adapted to follow the reference surfaces. Two variable resistors within the probe detect horizontal and vertical deviations of these surfaces. A voltage on each variable resistor is used to generate pulses which are applied to a SCR network through which power is supplied to the corresponding slide positioning motor. The voltage supplied to the motor corresponds in magnitude and polarity to the deviation in the direction of the path being followed by the probe and welding apparatus. The invention also includes a circuit for disabling the motors when the respective cross-slides reach the limits of their travel.
Abstract:
A pulse width modulation chopper controller for a D.C. traction motor has plug sensing means which monitors the voltage across the motor armature on a pulse-by-pulse basis and is responsive, only when the power switch is turned on, to the motor acting as a generator to limit the "on-time" of the power switch before current of high magnitude can flow in the motor.
Abstract:
In an electric propulsion control system for self-propelled traction vehicles having reversible, variable speed tractiOn motors, wherein the operation of a direction selector means overrides the normal speed controlling means and initiates a dynamic retardation operating mode so as automatically to decrease the speed of the traction motors, and means responsive to the motors subsequently decelerating to a predetermined relatively slow speed effects a reversal of motor energization so as to reverse the direction of the vehicle.
Abstract:
Stopping of a d-c servo motor is effected in two phases, during the first of which the velocity is brought to half its initial value after initiation by a stop signal. A reference single shot and a proportional single shot determine the timing of the second phase, these circuits acting together to generate a stopping waveform which traverses a constant displacement, independent of motor deceleration rate.
Abstract:
A control circuit for controlling the effective power to a load from a power source of substantially constant direct current voltage includes a first or main solid state switching device for placing the load and the power source in series. Suitable circuitry including a commutating capacitor chargable in a direction such that its discharge will terminate conduction of the main switching device further includes resistive means serving to maintain the capacitor in constant communication with the power source. Also provided is a means for providing dynamic braking of a direct current motor load through a resistive element such that the armature terminal voltage is adjusted linearly with the speed thereof.
