    摘要: A hydro-forming tool is disclosed in which first and second electrohydraulic forming (EHF) electrodes are used to provide a pressure pulse in opposite ends of a tubular pre-form. Alternatively, an accumulator with a rupturable membrane may be provided in opposite ends of a tubular pre-form for hydro-forming the tubular pre-form. A multiple discharge hydro-forming tool is also disclosed in which several pairs of accumulators are provided with selectively rupturable membranes that are ruptured to provide a pressure pulse in opposite ends of a tubular pre-form. The accumulators or EHF electrodes may be sequenced to provide separate pressure pulses that may be coordinated with retraction of a filler plug or shifting of a split ring into their respective retracted positions. A plurality of pressure pulses may be used to form, pierce and trim the tubular pre-form.

    摘要: A device for explosive forming of a tubular work piece includes a multipart explosive forming die, which defines a forming area having an inner surface corresponding to a final shape of the tubular work piece and a nozzle arrangement disposed adjacent to the forming area. The device also includes a plug for forming a seal by simultaneously deforming an end of the work piece and clamping the deformed end between the plug and a facing surface of the nozzle arrangement. In this way, the work piece itself contributes to the sealing of an internal explosion space. With insertion of new work piece blanks, and introduction of the plug during each individual forming process, new seals are produced in a convenient manner during subsequent forming processes. The device supports a simplified handling approach and integrates several functions into one working step, resulting in a shorter cycle times and cost-effective industrial production.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for enclosing, controlling and suppressing the detonation of explosives in an explosion chamber is disclosed. The device comprises an elongate double-walled steel explosion chamber anchored to a concrete foundation, and having a double-walled access door for charging new workpieces, and a double-walled vent door for discharging the products of the explosion. The double walls of the chamber, access door and vent door are filled with granular shock damping material such as silica sand, and the floor of the chamber is covered with granular shock-damping bed such as pea gravel. Along the outside of the chamber are steel manifolds from which a linear array of vent pipes penetrates the double walls of the chamber, with each pipe terminating in a hardened steel orifice through which the explosion combustion products pass. Within the chamber, plastic polymer film bags containing water are suspended from steel wires over the explosive material, and at each end of the chamber.
