    Abstract: A bending apparatus for coiled tubing protects along the entire path of coiled tubing from the reel to the injector, while still protecting a main controlled bend to the injector. The bending apparatus includes a conduit having a bend portion and a flexible portion. The main controlled bend is isolated in the bend portion, while smaller adjustment bends can be designated for the flexible portion. An impingement sleeve further protects and support coiled tubing within the conduit. The bend portion can be defined by an exterior support for the stability and strength of the bend portion, when the entire conduit is made of flexible material. A threader provides for safe loading from the reel to the conduit. A buckle preventer can be added to prevent damage after exiting the conduit. A blowout preventer can be added to cut and isolate the coiled tubing between the conduit and the reel.

    Abstract: A forming device includes: a first cavity portion in which a pipe portion is formed and a second cavity portion in which a flange portion is formed, the first cavity portion and the second cavity portion being formed between a first die and a second die; a flange adjusting member which is capable of being advanced into the second cavity portion and is capable of being retreated from the second cavity portion, and which adjusts a length of the flange portion; and a control unit. The control unit sequentially performs a first control of allowing the flange adjusting member to be advanced into the second cavity portion, a second control of allowing the gas supply unit to supply a gas so as to temporarily form the flange portion, and a third control of allowing the flange adjusting member to be retreated from the second cavity portion.

    Abstract: A forming device includes: an upper die and a lower die having forming surfaces corresponding to outer surfaces of a pipe with protrusions; a moving mechanism that moves the upper die and the lower die such that a forming space for forming the pipe with protrusions is defined between the forming surfaces of the upper die and the lower die; and a gas supply unit that supplies gas to a forming material which is the base of the pipe with protrusions to expand the forming material. A control unit controls the movement of the upper die and the lower die by the moving mechanism and the supply of gas to the forming material by the gas supply unit such that the forming material is formed into the pipe with protrusions in the forming space.

    Abstract: A system and method of manufacturing a metal vessel may include providing a preform being formed of work hardened aluminum. The preform may have an open portion, a closed portion, and body portion. A multiple segment mold may be closed around the preform. The multiple segment mold may include at least one projecting portion operative to partially deform the preform while closing the mold. The preform may be blow molded by causing a step-like change in pressure within the preform to cause the preform to take a shape defined by the mold when the mold is in the closed position. The molded preform may be removed from the mold.

    Abstract: A guide pin assembly for metal forming dies includes a cylindrical guide pin body with a tapered guide pin head to guide associated die members from converging and diverging positions. A base is used to secure the guide pin assembly to one of the die members in a reciprocating die. The base includes a tapered surface that coincides with the tapered surface of the guide pin head to transfer the directional force, caused by the diverging die members, on the guide pin assembly to other die components. The guide pin assembly includes additional dampening components between the guide pin assembly and the base to dampen the impact caused by the diverging die members.
