    摘要： A sorting apparatus is provided which includes a plurality of article carriers which circulate on a conveying device. The article carriers are capable of discharging the articles in a controllable manner. Each article carrier includes a fixed wall and a movable wall. The movable wall forms, in a closed position, together with the fixed wall, a receiving pocket for the articles. The movable wall also forms, in a discharge position, together with the fixed wall, an injection slit which is open at the bottom of the pocket and which is intended to convey the articles downward through an injection chute formed by the movable wall. The movable wall engages a support structure such as a plurality of rollers or wheels for conveying the articles. The movable wall may also include a slit for receiving a distal end of the fixed wall to the two walls together in the closed position.

    摘要： An apparatus for forming sheet material assemblages includes a plurality of pockets which are movable past a plurality of sheet material feeders. Each of the pockets includes a sheet material support which is movable between any one of a plurality of closed positions and an open condition. When the sheet material support is in a closed position, it blocks the lower end portion of the pocket and supports sheet material in the pocket. When the sheet material support is in the open condition, it is ineffective to block the lower portion of the pocket so that the sheet material assemblage can move out of the pocket through the lower end portion of the pocket. An actuator is provided to move the sheet material support from the open condition to a closed position. The sheet material support is connected with side portions of the pocket by a four bar linkage. A clutch assembly in the four bar linkage is operable from an engaged condition to a disengaged condition to release the sheet material support for movement from a closed position.

    摘要： A sheet applicator for applying individual thin, flexible sheets of paper or similar material to a series of relatively thick, flat articles (e.g., hamburger patties) as those articles fall along a defined discharge path terminating at a stacking position, comprising a shuttle with vacuum grippers for transferring each flexible sheet from a transfer position to an application position on the article discharge path, where one of the articles engages the sheet and carries it to the end of the discharge path. The grippers engage at least three peripheral points around the edges of the sheet; the falling article pulls the sheet from the gripper, falling through a central opening in the shuttle. The carriage then returns for the next sheet. A single-sheet feeder applies the sheets to the shuttle in registry with the vacuum grippers.

    摘要： A device for discharging processed or worked lengths of material from a work table the lengths having a part lying on the work table and a part hanging over an edge thereof. The device includes a pair of parallel superposed perforate conduits spaced from the edge of the table and connected to a source of compressed air, and a receiving bar pivoted about an axis below the table on which the lengths are eventually straddled. The upper conduit is positioned at the level of the work table and the lower bar is positioned at the same level as the receiving bar. The jet of air formed by the lower conduit retains the portion hanging over the end of the table against the receiving bar while the jet of air formed by the upper conduit flips the part of the length lying on the table onto the receiving bar such that the length is straddled on the receiving bar.
