Abstract: The invention relates to a use of a fluorination gas, and the elemental fluorine (F2) is present in a high concentration, for example, in a concentration of elemental fluorine (F2), especially of equal to much higher than 15 or even 20% by volume, and to a process for the manufacture of a fluorinated compound by direct fluorination employing a fluorination gas, wherein the elemental fluorine (F2) is present in a high concentration. The process of the invention is directed to the manufacture of a fluorinated compound, for the exception of fluorinated benzene, by direct fluorination. Especially the invention is of interest in the preparation of fluorinated organic compounds, final products and as well intermediates, for usage in agro-, pharma-, electronics-, catalyst, solvent and other functional chemical applications. The fluorination process of the invention may be performed batch-wise or in a continuous manner.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for producing a dichloro addition product of an aliphatic olefin by photocatalysis under visible light. The method includes reacting an aliphatic olefin as a substrate with hydrochloric acid as a chlorine source in an organic solvent under visible light irradiation in the presence of copper chloride with visible light absorption ability as a catalyst, to obtain the dichloro addition product of the aliphatic olefin, wherein the reaction is carried out under an oxygen-containing atmosphere, the aliphatic olefin comprises a carbon-carbon double bond and a C9-C15 aliphatic chain connected to the carbon-carbon double bond by a covalent bond. In the invention, visible light is used to provide the energy and a transition metal chloride with visible light absorption ability is used to undergo light-induced electron transfer from chloride with a reaction substrate, thereby initiating an addition reaction to obtain a dichloro addition product.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a compound that inhibits c-Abl tyrosine kinase (also referred to herein as “c-Abl”). The compound embodiments described herein are novel c-Abl inhibitors that can bind to c-Abl at an allosteric site and inhibit its activity in various pathways. The compound embodiments also are capable of crossing the blood brain barrier and therefore are useful in inhibiting c-Abl activity as it affects pathways and/or proteins in the brain. The compound embodiments described herein are effective therapeutic agents for treating diseases involving c-Abl, such as cancers, motor neuron diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. Also disclosed herein are embodiments of methods for making and using the c-Abl inhibitory compound embodiments.

Abstract: Disclosed is a fluorination method comprising providing an aryl fluorosulfonate and a fluorinating reagent to a reaction mixture; and reacting the aryl fluorosulfonate and the fluorinating reagent to provide a fluorinated aryl species.
Also disclosed is a fluorination method comprising providing, a salt comprising a cation and an aryloxylate, and SO2F2 to a reaction mixture; reacting the SO2F2 and the ammonium salt to provide a fluorinated aryl species.
Further disclosed a fluorination method comprising providing a compound having the structure Ar—OH to a reaction mixture; where Ar is an aryl or heteroaryl; providing SO2F2 to the reaction mixture; providing a fluorinating reagent to the reaction mixture; reacting the SO2F2, the fluorinating reagent and the compound having the structure Ar—OH to provide a fluorinated aryl species having the structure Ar—F.
