Abstract:
A D-loop web belt gripper to releasably grip a web belt is disclosed. The D-loop web belt gripper includes a frame, a web belt gripping component, and a web belt actuating component. The web belt gripping component is a wedge having a plurality of web belt gripping teeth spatially biased away from a base member of the frame. The web belt actuating components is a bail having a lever arm, a pair of guide walls pivotally adjoined to a pair of guide walls of the frame, and a pair of drivers abutting the wedge. A first portion of a web belt is disposable between the web belt gripping teeth and the base member of the frame, and a second portion of the web belt is arcuately disposable upon the lever arm to form an arcuation in the second portion of the web belt. A forcible unbending of the arcuation in the second portion of the web belt can pivot the bail via the lever arm causing the drivers of the bail to displace the web belt gripping teeth of the wedge in the direction of the base member of the frame.
Abstract:
A trim component (10) for a vehicle door post (11) having a seat belt mounting (17) secured thereto, the component comprising a body shell (12) with at least one energy absorbing member (24) mounted on the reverse side (16) of the body shell. The member (24) has an aperture (34) therein through which seat belt webbing (19) in use passes, and is slidable relative to the shell (12) to accommodate belt path adjustments.
Abstract:
A pillar assembly for a motor vehicle includes a frame portion, an interior trim panel attached to the frame portion and an energy absorbing member attached to one of the frame portion and the interior trim panel. The energy absorbing member is disposed between the frame portion and the interior trim panel. The energy absorbing member is inelastically deformable and includes an open side and a closed side. The open side is oriented to face the other of the frame portion and the interior trim panel.
Abstract:
There is provided a construction for attaching an adjuster in which even if adjuster body attaching bolts are not sub-assembled, an adjuster body can be fixed temporarily to a pillar without the contact of a lock pin, which is provided at the tip end of an operating knob, with the pillar. The construction is such that a crank-shaped locking portion is provided at the intermediate portion of the adjuster body.
Abstract:
A height-adjustable fastening system for a safety belt of a vehicle has a guide track and a slide slidably connected to the guide track and arrestable in various positions along the guide track. A fastening or guiding bracket is connected to the slide. A Bowden cable arrangement has a first end connected to the slide and a second end connected to a vehicle seat displaceable on a first and second seat tracks. The Bowden cable arrangement includes a sleeve and a cable pull displaceably guided within the sleeve. A stationary guide is positioned in the vicinity of the first seat track. The Bowden cable arrangement is guided about the stationary guide and the sleeve is connected to the stationary guide. The cable pull is connected with a first end to the vehicle seat at a fastening location remote from the stationary guide. The cable pull transmits a displacement movement of the vehicle seat onto the slide. The fastening location and the stationary guide are arranged such to one another that in a first end position of the vehicle seat the cable pull extends at a first angle of 90.degree. or less to the seat tracks and in a second end position of the vehicle seat extends at a second angle of 0.degree. or more to the seat tracks.
Abstract:
An adjustable mounting mechanism is provided for an automotive seat belt assembly which employs an energy absorbing cushion locally overlying the mounting bolt joining the seat belt assembly to a vehicle body pillar. The cushion is carried in a moveable trim portion which operates to move the mounting bolt vertically while maintaining juxtaposed relationship between the cushion and the mounting bolt.
Abstract:
A trim component for mounting to a structural member of an automotive vehicle including a body fixedly mounted to a structural member, the body including a plurality of energy absorbing ribs spaced relative to one another along the body and disposed adjacent to the structural member when the trim component is mounted thereto. The energy absorbing ribs include a series of fingers extending from the body and spaced relative to one another. The fingers deflect upon contact with the structural member in response to a force acting on the body to absorb and dissipate the energy generated by the force.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a seat belt device for an automobile including a seat belt anchor mounted on a center pillar for the automobile and composed of a plurality of parts, and a seat belt slidably supported by the seat belt anchor. A displacement permission space is defined between an anchor plate of the seat belt anchor and the center pillar, and a spacer constituted by a metallic bellows is disposed as an energy absorber in the displacement permission space.
Abstract:
An anchor device for a seat belt for connecting, to a vehicle, a webbing for restraining an occupant to a seat so that a load applied to the webbing is received by the vehicle body. The anchor device includes a frame on which an anchor for locking the webbing is supported, a shock absorbing member which is secured at one end to the frame and at the other end to the vehicle body and which is capable of being deformed by a load applied to the frame, and a coupling member for coupling a portion of the shock absorbing member near the other end to the frame. The coupling member is broken or deformed by the load applied to the frame to separate the frame and the shock absorbing member from each other. Thus, when a load is applied from the webbing to the anchor of the seat belt, the anchor is moved properly to absorb the shock.
Abstract:
A seat belt device in an automotive seat, which comprises a seat belt extending from a part of the automobile to a floor of the same for restraining a passenger to the seat, and a seat belt guide provided at one upper corner portion of the seat back of the seat. The seat belt guide includes a guide anchor through which the seat belt slidably passes, and a drive mechanism for causing such through guide anchor to be moved in a vertical direction along the longitudinal direction of the seat back. Thus, the initial point at which the seat belt begins to approach a passenger may be set at a desired level via the guide anchor, thereby adapting the seat belt to better fit, and hence better restrain the passenger's trunk to the seat, irrespective of his or her individual physical differences and/or inclination of the seat back.
