Abstract: A system includes a compressor, an indoor fan, a thermostat, an indoor fan controller, and a compressor controller. The thermostat provides first and second signals based on indoor loading. The fan controller operates the fan in low speed mode and the compressor controller operates the compressor in low capacity mode when only the first signal is asserted. The compressor controller automatically switches the compressor to high capacity mode if only the first signal remains asserted past the low capacity mode runtime. The fan controller operates the fan in high speed mode when the second signal is asserted while the first signal is still asserted. The compressor controller continues to operate the compressor in high capacity mode and the fan controller operates the fan in low speed mode after the second signal is de-asserted, until the first signal is de-asserted, at which point the fan and compressor are turned off.

Abstract: A compressor may include a non-orbiting scroll, an orbiting scroll, a driveshaft and an Oldham coupling. The orbiting scroll meshingly engages the non-orbiting scroll. The driveshaft includes a crankpin engaging the orbiting scroll and driving the orbiting scroll in an orbital path relative to the non-orbiting scroll. The Oldham coupling may include an annular body and a plurality of first keys extending from the annular body and slidably received in slots formed in the orbiting scroll. Each of the first keys may include a first post and a first cap attached to the first post. The first posts may be integrally formed with the annular body from a first material. The first caps may be formed from a second material.

Abstract: A climate-control system may include first and second compressors, first and second suction valves, and a control module. The first and second compressors each include a shell and a compression mechanism. The shells define suction chambers from which the compression mechanisms draw working fluid. The shells include suction inlets through which working fluid is drawn into the suction chambers. The first suction valve may be movable between a fully open position and a partially closed position and may control a flow of working fluid through the first suction inlet. The second suction valve may be movable between a fully open position and a partially closed position and may control a flow of working fluid through the second suction inlet. The control module may control positions of the first and second suction valves to control lubricant levels in the first and second shells.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a compressor includes measuring a power factor of a motor of a compressor. The method includes selectively detecting an occurrence of a fault event of an electrical grid based on the power factor. The method includes, in response to detecting that the fault event has occurred, switching the compressor from a first state to a second state. The compressor consumes less power in the second state than in the first state. The method includes identifying an apparent conclusion of the fault event. The method includes, in response to the apparent conclusion of the fault event, waiting for a first delay period before switching the motor of the compressor back to the first state.

An interior grading module generates a grade for an interior of the building based on a second characteristic of the line. A reporting module generates a displayable report for the building including the grade of the exterior envelope and the grade of the interior of the building.

Abstract: A compressor compresses a refrigerant. A eutectic plate cools a refrigerated space. An evaporator cools the refrigerated space. A mixture of the refrigerant and an oil flows through the evaporator and the eutectic plate. A control module controls the compressor, a first valve that permits or prevents flow of the mixture to the eutectic plate, and a second valve that permits or prevents flow of the mixture to the evaporator. In response to a temperature of the refrigerated space being greater than a predetermined temperature, the control module: increases a speed of the compressor; operates the compressor at the increased speed for a predetermined time period; after the predetermined period: opens the second valve; and closes the first valve, where the control module opens the second valve before closing the first valve, and decreases the speed of the compressor after closing the first valve.

The first scroll member is disposed within the shell and may include a first end plate having a discharge passage, and first and second bypass passages extending through the first end plate. The partition plate is disposed within the shell and separates the discharge-pressure region from the suction-pressure region and includes an opening in communication with the discharge-pressure region. The bypass valve member is movable between a first position restricting fluid flow through at least one of the first and second bypass passages and the opening and a second position in allowing fluid flow through the at least one of the first and second bypass passages and the opening.
