    Abstract: A digital neural network architecture including a forward cascade of layers of neurons, having one input channel and one output channel, for forward processing of data examples that include many data packets. Backward cascade of layers of neurons, having one input channel and one output channel, for backward propagation learning of errors of the processed data examples. Each packet being of a given size. The forward cascade is adapted to be fed, through the input channel, with a succession of data examples and to deliver a succession of partially and fully processed data examples each consisting of a plurality of packets. The fully processed data examples are delivered through the one output channel. Each one of the layers is adapted to receive as input in its input channel a first number of data packets per time unit and to deliver as output in its output channel a second number of data packets per time unit. The forward cascade of layers is inter-connected to the backward cascade of layers by means that include inter-layer structure, such that, during processing phase of the forward cascade of neurons, any given data example that is fed from a given layer in the forward cascade to a corresponding layer in the backward cascade, through the means, is synchronized with the error of the given processed data example that is fed to the corresponding layer from a preceding layer in the backward cascade. The first number of data packets and the second number of data packets being the same for all the layers.

    Abstract: A method for reconstructing a secret, over a public communication channel, using a perfect t-out-of-n secret sharing scheme. The scheme having a dealer which utilizes a delivering procedure for privately delivering n secret shares of the secret along with n keys to n participants that are interlinked by the channel. The scheme further having a secret reconstructing procedure for being executed by selected recipient participants, for reconstructing the secret by utilizing self secret share of the recipient participant and l-1 secret shares of the other participants. The secret reconstructing procedure includes the following steps: (i) receiving over said public communication channel l-1 encoded secret shares from the l-1 participants, respectively; (ii) decoding each one of the l-1 encoded secret shares, thereby obtaining l-1 decoded secret shares; and (iii) reconstructing the secret from the l-1 decoded secret shares and from the self secret share of the recipient participant.

    Abstract: A hydrophobic and oleophilic particular vermicular structure of expanded graphite, possessing the property of absorbing in a selective manner only large amounts of petroleum products from a water media is described. This expanded grahite is characterized by three main properties: (a) a specific density in the range of 0.003-0.1 g/ml; (b) a surface area in the range of 50-200 m.sup.2 g/ml; and (c) closed pores in the range of 3% to 20%. The particular structure of the expanded graphite can be used in the form of particulate, pillows, blankets, booms or as a filter medium. Preferred particles sizes of the expanded graphite are in the range of between 0.5 to 3 mm. The oil absorbed onto the expanded grahite can be released by pressure or recovered by solvent extraction.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for demodulating a modulated signal having a carrier component and a data component, in which the modulated signal is split into at least two parts one of which is delayed with respect to the other, and the two parts are multiply-coupled and linearly-combined to produce a combined output corresponding to a function of the data component independent of the carrier component frequency. In the described method and apparatus the undelayed part is coupled with the delayed part in a multiport coupler, wherein the parts are relatively phase-shifted to produce a plurality of phase-shifted signals; and the phase-shifted signals are linearly combined such that the data component, in the function of the combined output, is not affected by variations in frequency or phase of the carrier component. This enables a robust direct-detection DPSK receiver.
