A floor covering apparatus includes at least two elongate wooden strips and an elastic structural adhesive joinery. The adhesive joinery adheres longitudinal adjacent edges of the wooden strips to one another so as to form one or more joints between the wooden strips. Upper surfaces of the wooden strips together define a smooth continuous wooden upper surface of the apparatus. The adhesive joinery is formed from a structural adhesive material that is resilient, elastic, dimensionally dynamic, and mobile. The apparatus is adapted to be installed complete in itself without necessitating the use of fasteners, joinery millwork, or supporting structural securement members.

Lock and fold floor covering panels can be installed by angling a long locking edge into a previously installed row of panels and dropping or locking the projection of the tongue of the short side into the depression of the lower lip forming the groove in the short side. By incorporating a force increasing means in the fold joint, the width of the panels that can be installed with a lock and fold system can be increased beyond the conventionally accepted 3.5 inches. The fold joint is designed to permit it to be engaged, disengaged and reengaged without damaging the fold joint.

A system and method for joining floor planks includes two or more planks wherein each plank includes a tongue, a groove, and optionally a shoulder, and optionally a protruding lip, that provide a mechanism for connecting two or more planks together. The tongue can be on the opposing side of each plank from the groove. The groove can be defined between a first flange extending along a first edge of the plank and from one side of the plank, and a second flange extending distally beyond a distal edge of the first flange from the first edge of the plank and from a second side of the plank opposite from the first side. The tongue can be S-shaped to form an interlocking relationship with the groove.

Floorboards (1, 1′) are shown, which are provided with a mechanical locking system consisting of a separately machined locking strip (6) which is mechanically joined with the floorboard (1), the locking strip (6) being designed for mechanical fixing to the floorboard (1) by means of a joint, which is operable by snapping-in and/or inward angling, and the locking strip (6) being designed to connect the floorboard (1) with the essentially identical floorboard (1′) by at least inward angling. Moreover, a locking strip, a strip blank, a set of parts for making a floorboard and methods for manufacturing a floorboard and a locking strip, respectively, are shown.

The invention relates to a board for use in interior construction, especially for producing new walls in a room or for paneling wall, ceiling or roof surfaces of a room. Said board is provided on at least two opposite ends, a first and a second end, with connecting means, especially having a groove-and-tongue design, for linking the board with other boards of the same kind. The connecting means facilitate a catch, snap-in or click-in connection with an adjoining board of the same kind. Additional fastening means are provided on the board itself or on two boards linked with each other for fastening the board on a support construction. The invention also relates to a method for producing new walls of a room or for paneling already existing wall, ceiling or roof surfaces of a room. According to this method, a first board is mounted, a second board is linked with the first board by establishing a catch, snap-in or click-in connection on the adjoining lateral edges of the two boards, and the second board is secured by additional fastening means.

A method of connecting structural components having a relatively low thickness, the method including pre-applying, at an off-site location, one of an adhesive and a substance which activates an adhesive to at least one of at least one of the sides of the groove of one of the structural components and at least one of the sides of the tongue of another of the structural components, and connecting, at a site different from the off-site location, the structural components together by causing the tongue to be inserted into the groove.

An apparatus and method for simultaneously pressing together longitudinally a plurality of individual strips of wood, each strip being provided with a finger joint at each end. The strips are jointed end to end in a number of rows to form a floorboard. The apparatus includes a mechanism for simultaneously applying longitudinal pressure to each of the rows of wood strips during the curing process. The resulting floorboard is mechanically improved, has greater protection against humidity and increases the fatigue resistance of the floorboard, which can be used for trailer floors or the like.
Abstract:
Sealant is statically applied to the edges of panels by placing a sealant on the inner surfaces of the walls of a container holding the panels. A shrink wrap sleeve is preferably applied to the panel filled containers, causing contact between the inner surface of the container and panel edges, such that the sealant is transferred to the edges of the panels. Further transfer occurs during handling of the container, due to movement of the panels in the container and contact between the sealant and panel edges.
Abstract:
The present technique relates to a floor system that includes panels designed to be joined to one another, with an adhesive coating and a sealant at each joint to facilitate assembly. The panels include mechanically interlocking portions that mate when the system is installed. Disposed on the interlocking portions is a coating adapted to cohesively bond upon contact with itself under ambient conditions and without external activation. The sealant protects the joint and prevents the ingress of moisture following installation. Advantageously, the cohesive bonding of the coating is delayed such that the bonding does not obstruct the installation of the floor panel.
