Abstract: Various aspects of a method and a system to process a geographical internet protocol (IP) lookup request of an IP address are disclosed herein. The method is implemented in a first server. The first server receives a first request for the lookup of the IP address from a first computing device. In response to the received first request, data is retrieved from a cache memory. The retrieved data from the cache memory is communicated to the first computing device. The cache memory stores the data received in response to a prior received request for the lookup of the IP address.

Abstract: A method of selectively allocating a plurality of deployment units among a plurality of clouds. The method can include identifying a first context of a first deployment unit of a workload and identifying a second context of a second deployment unit of the workload. Based on the first context, a first of the plurality of clouds that satisfies at least one requirement indicated by the first context can be identified and the first deployment unit can be automatically allocated to the first cloud. Based on the second context, a second of the plurality of clouds that satisfies at least one requirement indicated by the second context can be identified, wherein the first cloud does not satisfy the requirement indicated by the second context, and the second deployment unit can be automatically allocated to the second cloud.

Abstract: The number of IP pools is increased independently of the number of network interfaces coupled to an external network. In response to a registration request requesting registration of an IP address pool, which is a part of an IP address space, in a first network, a control apparatus is configured to cause a processor to execute: generating a logical interface configured to operate as a logical network interface; logically coupling the logical interface to a logical switch; generating a NAT module logically coupled to a second network interface and configured to mutually convert an IP address in the IP address pool and an IP address in a second network; and logically coupling the NAT module to the logical interface.

Abstract: A method for web service load balancing may commence with receiving, from a local DNS server, a request for a web service. The local DNS server may be coupled to a web client requesting the web service. The request may include local DNS server information. The method may continue with determining a geographic location of the local DNS server based on the local DNS server information. The method may further include selecting a web server from a plurality of web servers based on the web service. The method may continue with determining a geographic location of the web server and determining that the geographic location of the local DNS server matches the geographic location of the web server. The method may further include selecting the web server based on the match. The method may continue with sending a response to the local DNS server.

The approach receives one or more requests from one or more virtual machines, wherein the one or more requests are directed to one or more network adapters. The approach determines whether a first network adapter of the one or more network adapters is saturated. Responsive to a determination that the first network adapter is saturated, the approach sends a first busy event to a first virtual machine of the one or more virtual machines.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments disclose techniques for facilitating access to a remote cloud service via a cloud controller for a distributed filesystem. Two or more cloud controllers collectively manage distributed filesystem data that is stored in the cloud storage systems; the cloud controllers ensure data consistency for the stored data, and each cloud controller caches portions of the distributed filesystem. During operation, a cloud controller detects a request from a co-located client to access a network address that is in the same subnet of their local network. The cloud controller determines that the network address is associated with the remote cloud service (which executes in a cloud storage environment) and forwards the request to the remote cloud service.

Abstract: A DNS server receives, from a client device, a DNS query for a resource record type at a domain name. The DNS server determines that the resource record type does not exist at the domain name and generates an answer that indicates that the queried resource record type does not exist at the domain name and also indicates that a plurality of other resource record types exist at the domain name regardless of whether those plurality of other resource record types actually exist at the domain name. The DNS server transmits the generated answer to the client device.

Abstract: Techniques are described for load balancing between DHCP servers at a DHCP client. Embodiments include receiving, at the DHCP client, a respective DHCPOFFER message from each of two or more DHCP servers, wherein each of the DHCPOFFER messages includes an IP address offer and load information describing a current workload of the respective DHCP server. One of DHCP servers is selected, at the DHCP client, to accept an offer for an IP address from, based on the received load information and a subnet on which the selected DHCP server is located. Embodiments transmit a DHCPREQUEST message, from the DHCP client, to the selected DHCP server, to accept the IP address offer from the selected DHCP server.

Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support bulk authentication of a device associated with a user to all cloud-based services the device intends to access in one transaction instead of authenticating the device against each of the services individually. First, the device generates and transmits to one or more authentication service clusters an authentication request that includes its identification and authentication credentials in order to access to a plurality of services. Upon receiving the authentication request, the authentication service cluster(s) authenticate the device for all of the services to be accessed based on the information in the authentication request. Once the device is authenticated, the authentication service cluster(s) then retrieve entitlement information of the services to be accessed by the device, and identify the service clusters/nodes that the device will connect to for the services with the fastest response time.
