Abstract:
A system and method for communicating with a second communication system utilizing a plurality of antennas. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise determining whether communicating with the second communication system utilizing a plurality of antennas in a first configuration, which comprises a beam-forming configuration, is preferable to utilizing a plurality of antennas in a second configuration, which comprises a MIMO or MISO configuration. If it is determined that the first configuration is preferable to the second configuration, the communication system may be configured to communicate with the second communication system by utilizing at least a portion of the plurality of antennas in the first configuration. If it is determined that the second configuration is preferable to the first configuration, then the communication system may be configured to communicate with the second communication system by utilizing at least a portion of the plurality of antennas in the second configuration.
Abstract:
Video player circuitry used with encoded source video and a display. Decoder circuitry receives encoded source video and decodes the encoded source video to produce a sequence of full frames of video data. Pre-processing circuitry, pursuant to sub-frame information, generates a plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data from the sequence of full frames of video data, a first sequence of the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data having a different center point within the sequence of full frames of video data than that of a second sequence of the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data. Post-processing circuitry, pursuant to supplemental information, modifies the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data to produce an output. Interface circuitry that delivers the output for subsequent presentation on the display.
Abstract:
Systems and methods that provide satellite-based media processing are described. In one embodiment, a system that exchanges media may include, for example, a communications device that may be coupled to a network and to an antenna. The communications device may provide two-way communications with the network and may provide one-way communications with the antenna. The communications may receive media content from the antenna and/or the network. The communications device may send the media content to the network
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for call setup in a communication network that comprises at least one mobile station to facilitate the hand-off of a wireless headset from a mobile station that has been docked to a landline base unit that includes a radio front end operable to communicate with the wireless headset. Generally, the embodiments of the invention include establishing a first voice path through at least one switching element between a calling party and a called party in a communication network where at least one of the called and calling parties is communicating with the mobile station or, more generally, with a wireless telephone. Thereafter, a first wireless headset communication link is established between the wireless telephone and the wireless headset unit.
Abstract:
An online system uses, in various embodiments of the invention, credit report information, loan affordability screening and credit approval and management functionality to facilitate the purchase and finance of products online. The online system may include both sellers of products and lenders that offer financing to buyers seeking to purchase the products. The system may automatically obtain a buyer's credit report information and use that information to determine if the buyer is pre-approved, for example, to obtain financing for a particular product or products. The system also enables use of buyer credit information to identify only those of a seller's products for which the buyer is pre-approved, for example, to finance using one or more loans. The system then enables selection of an identified product or products for purchase, and selection of a loan, for example, for financing of the selected product or products. Credit approval (or pre-approval) may be performed automatically, and along with credit processing, may be performed completely online.
Abstract:
A media player implements an integrated parallel source download technology to receive a media file from streamed and segmented media file sources. A first source streams delivery of streamed media packets of the media file in sequential packet number order to the media player, while a second source provides segmented delivery of segmented media packets of the media file in random order to the media player. The media player combines the streamed media packets and the segmented media packets to produce the media file.
Abstract:
A cellular telephone or other wireless communications device supports association with a third party sponsor other than a network operator. The device establishes default user interface settings for the user interface consistent with association with the network operator. The device then determines a desired association with one or more third party sponsors. Based upon the desired association, the device retrieve third party sponsor settings. The device then alters its user interface settings based upon the third party sponsor settings, wherein the altered user interface settings differ from the default user interface settings. The device then communicates with a third party sponsor server computer via the communications interface to exchange information relating to operation of the cellular telephone. Multiple third party sponsors could share access to the user interface. The third party sponsor may be a business, a group of individuals, or another entity.
Abstract:
A transcription network having linked computer terminals for a court reporter and for examining, defending, and associate attorneys is disclosed. Real-time transcription text is communicated from the reporter's terminal through the network. Secure message interchange between the examining attorneys and between defending attorneys is provided along independent communication links and using encryption. Off-site terminals for clients, experts, or other associate attorneys may be linked to the network. Communication on the network is hierarchically controlled so as not to bombard the examining attorney, and is managed by a protocol for updating disconnected and non-listening terminals. The terminals provide software routines for automatically delivering proposed objections to the form of a question or answer. Stenographic keystrokes that cannot be directly transcribed are converted to a phoneme form for down-line readability. A synchronization scheme provides for automatic play-back of audio and video recordings corresponding to the transcribed text of a specific question or answer.
Abstract:
In a digital communication infrastructure, intermediate network nodes compare packets from end-point devices with pluralities of virus templates. Upon detecting matches, virus service functions are invoked which interrupt the packet flow. Network wide template and service functionality updating is provided to service pluralities of virus service software vendors. Non-repetitive detection processing minimizes network load. Virus service functions may execute locally and/or remotely. Servicing may include dropping packets containing virus codes or, processing and routing the packets. Pop-up messages revealing underlying template matches are delivered with human challenge mechanism. The network nodes may be routers, packet switching exchanges, switches, access points, Internet service provider equipment, etc. External vendor servers and server clusters may assist network nodes in detecting and processing packets for virus codes.
Abstract:
A resonant power transmission system for wirelessly delivering electric power to a target device. A transmitter resonant phased array includes a power source operable to source alternating current power at a target frequency. A plurality of transmitting elements, each operable to produce a non-radiated magnetic field, produces a composite non-radiated magnetic field. A plurality of transmitter tuned circuit elements couple the alternating current power to the plurality of transmitting elements. Control circuitry controls the plurality of transmitter tuned circuit elements to direct the composite non-radiated magnetic field toward the target device. Communication circuitry communicates with the target device. The plurality of transmitting elements may be a plurality of coils with the control circuitry individually controlling phase of the non-radiated magnetic fields produced by the plurality of transmitting elements by control of the plurality of transmitter tuned circuit elements. The plurality of coils may be directed mechanically in other embodiments.
