The present invention provides an apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, an apparatus for receiving broadcast signals and methods for transmitting and receiving broadcast signals. An apparatus for transmitting a broadcast signal including multimedia content using a broadcast network includes: an encoder configured to generate signaling information, wherein the signaling information indicates whether the multimedia content is to be transmitted in real time; a transmission block generator, if the signaling information indicates real-time transmission of the multimedia content, configured to divide a file contained in the multimedia content into at least one transmission block (TB) indicating a data unit that is independently encoded and transmitted; and a transmitter configured to transmit the transmission block (TB). Accordingly, the apparatus can reduce a total time needed when multimedia content is acquired and then displayed for a user.

A method for transmitting a broadcast signal includes: generating a first packet including broadcast content data; generating a second packet including the first packet, wherein the second packet includes a fixed header, an extended header having a variable length, and a payload including the first packet, wherein the fixed header includes a packet type element for identifying a category of the first packet and an indicator part element for identifying a construction of the payload; generating a broadcast signal including the second packet; and transmitting the broadcast signal.

A broadcast receiving unit receives a first broadcast stream including broadcast content via a broadcasting network other than an IP network. An IP transmitting/receiving unit receives media content transmitted via the IP network. A control unit receives media content presentation information for the media content on the basis of the first broadcast stream, and presents the media content on the basis of the media content presentation information.

An apparatus for processing digital service signals includes a receiving module configured to receive contents having watermarks, where the watermarks are inserted in audio or video frames of the contents, the watermarks carry channel information related to the contents, and content information having URL information for additional data of the contents.
