Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive configuration information from a base station, and the configuration information may indicate at least two different random access channel (RACH) request configuration parameters that each is associated with a respective radio resource control (RRC) state. The UE may be further configured to generate a first message associated with a two-step RACH procedure including a preamble and a payload, the payload including data on an uplink data channel and at least one reference signal. The UE may be further configured to transmit the first message to the base station using at least one of the at least two different RACH request configuration parameters that corresponds to an RRC state of the UE. The preamble may be transmitted on a first set of resources associated with a RACH occasion, and the payload may be transmitted on a second set of resources.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for mobility mode selection in uplink-based and downlink-based mobility in wireless communications systems. In an aspect, a method for wireless communications may include determining that a user equipment (UE) is operating in a first mobility mode, determining whether the UE satisfies at least one condition associated with mobility of the UE for mobility mode selection, and selecting a second mobility mode based on a determination that the UE satisfies the at least one condition, wherein each of the first mobility mode and the second mobility mode is an uplink mobility mode or a downlink mobility mode. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including the 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

The method further includes one of: transmitting the first signal after applying the phase correction; or receiving the first signal prior to applying the phase correction.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparats for remaining minimum system information (RMSI) physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring. A method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) is provided. During initial access of a cell, the UE determines a default first periodicity to monitor for at least a first PDCCH scheduling RMSI. After the initial access, the UE determines a second periodicity to monitor at least a second PDCCH scheduling RMSI based on the default first periodicity or based on an indication received in a previous RMSI from the cell. The UE monitors for at least the first PDCCH during initial access at the default first periodicity and monitors for at least the second PDCCH at the second periodicity after the initial access.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support multiple stages of beamforming for a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). A network entity may configure a RIS controller and a user equipment (UE) with a multi-stage beamforming configuration for a RIS. The configuration may be associated with multiple stages of beamforming that include a first stage and one or more second stages that refine one or more characteristics of the first stage. The network entity may also transmit a message indicating a beam training procedure for one or more of the multiple stages, where the beam training procedure may include communicating reference signals between the network entity and the UE, via the RIS. The network entity and the UE may perform the beam training procedure, and based on a result of the beam training procedure the RIS controller may configure one or more beamforming matrices for the RIS.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a network entity to indicate a network energy savings (NES) mode status for one or more cells in a common control message sent to a group of user equipments (UEs). The network entity may include one or more NES mode indications in a downlink control information (DCI) message that activates or deactivates a discontinuous transmission (DTX) configuration, a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration, or both for one or more cells. The DCI message may include the DTX and the DRX information in one or more respective information blocks corresponding one or more serving cells for the group of UEs, and the network entity may include the one or more NES mode indications in the one or more information blocks.
