Abstract: A machine access control system and corresponding method are provided. The machine access control system includes a camera configured to capture an input image of a subject purported to be a person associated with operating a particular workplace machine. The machine access control system further includes a memory storing a deep learning model configured to perform multi-task learning for a pair of tasks including a liveness detection task and a face recognition task. The machine access control system also includes a processor configured to apply the deep learning model to the input image to recognize an identity of the subject in the input image regarding being authorized to use the particular workplace machine and a liveness of the subject. The liveness detection task is configured to evaluate a plurality of different distractor modalities corresponding to different physical spoofing materials to prevent face spoofing for the face recognition task.

Abstract: A method in a graph storage and processing system is provided. The method includes storing, in a scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant, in-memory graph storage device, base graph data representative of graphs, and storing, in a real-time, in memory graph storage device, update graph data representative of graph updates for the graphs with respect to a time threshold. The method further includes sampling the base graph data to generate sampled portions of the graphs and storing the sampled portions, by an in-memory graph sampler. The method additionally includes providing, by a query manager, a query interface between applications and the system. The method also includes forming, by the query manager, graph data representative of a complete graph from at least the base graph data and the update graph data, if any. The method includes processing, by a graph computer, the sampled portions using batch-type computations to generate approximate results for graph-based queries.

Abstract: Methods and systems for predicting a trajectory include determining prediction samples for agents in a scene based on a past trajectory. The prediction samples are ranked according to a likelihood score that incorporates interactions between agents and semantic scene context. The prediction samples are iteratively refined using a regression function that accumulates scene context and agent interactions across iterations. A response activity is triggered when the prediction samples satisfy a predetermined condition.

Abstract: A system is provided for video captioning. The system includes a processor. The processor is configured to apply a three-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (C3D) to image frames of a video sequence to obtain, for the video sequence, (i) intermediate feature representations across L convolutional layers and (ii) top-layer features. The processor is further configured to produce a first word of an output caption for the video sequence by applying the top-layer features to a Long Short Term Memory (LSTM). The processor is further configured to produce subsequent words of the output caption by (i) dynamically performing spatiotemporal attention and layer attention using the intermediate feature representations to form a context vector, and (ii) applying the LSTM to the context vector, a previous word of the output caption, and a hidden state of the LSTM. The system further includes a display device for displaying the output caption to a user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving Long Term Evolution (LTE)-WiFi coexistence in a network, including configuring one or more LTE nodes for asynchronous access and synchronous transmission to bridge LTE and WiFi access modes. A channel is reserved for LTE transmission in the one or more LTE nodes, and a supplementary WiFi module is provided in the one or more LTE nodes for sensing the channel for occupancy and for broadcasting a reservation signal on the channel prior to the LTE transmission. Contention window sizes are scaled linearly by increasing the contention window sizes proportionally to a subframe collision rate to maintain throughput fairness to the WiFi, and synchronous transmission from the one or more LTE nodes to one or more User Devices (UEs) is performed by activating the unlicensed carrier for a reserved time period.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for video annotation of a video sequence that includes a plurality of frames. The method includes storing, by a computer, information representative of a bounding box around a given target object in the video sequence in both a first frame and a last frame of the video sequence that include the target object. The method further includes generating, by the computer based on the information, estimated box annotations of the given target object in suggested frames from among the plurality of frames. The suggested frames are determined based on an annotation uncertainty measure calculated using a set of already provided annotations for at least some of the plurality of frames together with optical flow information for the video sequence. The method also includes displaying, by the computer, various ones of the estimated box annotations of the given target object in the suggested frames.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system are provided. The system includes an image capture device configured to capture image data relative to an ambient environment of a user. The system further includes a processor configured to detect and localize objects, in a real-world map space, from the image data using a trainable object localization Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The CNN is trained to detect and localize the objects from image and radar pairs that include the image data and radar data for different scenes of a natural environment. The processor is further configured to perform a user-perceptible action responsive to a detection and a localization of an object in an intended path of the user.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for simultaneous metric learning and variable selection in non-linear regression is presented. Abstract: Automated security systems and methods include a set monitored systems, each having one or more corresponding monitors configured to record system state information. A progressive software behavioral query language (PROBEQL) database is configured to store the system state information from the monitored systems. A query optimizing module is configured to optimize a database query for parallel execution using spatial and temporal information relating to elements in the PROBEQL database. The optimized database query is split into sub-queries with sub-queries being divided spatially according to host and temporally according to time window. A parallel execution module is configured to execute the sub-queries on the PROBEQL database in parallel. A results module is configured to output progressive results of the database query. A security control system is configured to perform a security control action in accordance with the progressive results.
