Abstract:
A stationary plate functions as a vibration damper and has an integrated air filtration guide. In one embodiment the stationary plate is disposed between two adjacent disks, and the guide comprises one or more grooves through which rotation-induced air may flow. In another embodiment, a plurality of stationary plates may be disposed between a plurality of disks, wherein each of the plurality of stationary plates has a grooved side through which the rotation-induced air may flow. In still another embodiment, the orientation of the grooves in the stationary plate is such that the rotationally-induced airflow impinges the disk drive's voice coil motor.
Abstract:
Following CMP, a magnetic tunnel junction stack may protrude through the oxide that surrounds it, making it susceptible to possible shorting to its sidewalls. The present invention overcomes this problem by depositing silicon nitride spacers on these sidewalls prior to oxide deposition and CMP. So, even though the stack may protrude through the top surface of the oxide after CMP, the spacers serve to prevent possible later shorting to the stack.
Abstract:
In an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication system, a method is provided for channel estimation using a sub-space method suitable for computer implementation. The system has both a transmitter and a receiver including a plurality of antennas. The method comprising the step of: a receiver using at least one pseudo noise (PN) to correlate desired information relating to a received symbol; transforming the correlated information into frequency domain; and performing channel estimation using a sub-space method suitable for computer implementation.
Abstract:
Malodor free skin care compositions are described. The skin care compositions comprise an adsorbable solvent and an insoluble particle in an adsorbable solvent-insoluble particle complex. The complex is suitable to adsorb components with malodor to yield a skin care composition free of offensive odors like those generated from the oxidation of conjugated linoleic acid.
Abstract:
A system for transmitting information as frames in digital format between users on a network using a single frequency and TDMA and/or CDMA communications. Broadcasting, multicasting and unicasting are provided, and communications may be part of a downlink and/or an uplink signaling scheme that allows user-user and user-central station communication. A synchronization segment or pre-amble for a frame may include identification of the source and/or the intended recipient. Walsh, Haar, Rademacher coding of selected frame components, among others, can be incorporated. Reed Solomon encoding, signal interleaving and intra-leaving, trellis encoding and turbo encoding are used for error detection and correction. The system provides two-way communication with the Internet and/or with a cellular network and/or for smaller networks of users.
Abstract:
An LDPC based TDS-OFDM receiver for demodulating an LDPC encoded TDS-OFDM modulated RF signal downconverted to an IF signal includes a synchronization block, an equalization block, an OFDM demodulation block and a FEC decoder block. The synchronization block generates a baseband signal from a digitized IF signal and performs correlation of a PN sequence in a signal frame of the received RF signal with a corresponding locally generated PN sequence to provide signals for performing carrier recovery, timing recovery and parameters for channel estimation. The equalization block performs channel estimation and channel equalization. The OFDM demodulation block performs demodulation on the baseband signal to recover OFDM symbols and converts the OFDM symbols to frequency domain. The FEC decoder block includes an LDPC decoder for decoding the OFDM symbols based on the LDPC code to generate a digital output signal indicative of the data content of the RF signal.

Abstract:
Disk drives including suspensions and head gimbal assemblies in which the load beam pitch angle is reduced exhibit a reduced disk flutter induced track mis-registration (TMR) at the disk outer diameter. The reduction in the load beam pitch angle may be achieved through variations in the load beam, hinge and/or mount plate configurations, relative positions and/or thickness.
