Abstract: An encoder which encodes image information includes memory and circuitry accessible to the memory. The circuitry binarizes a data value indicating the number of non-zero coefficients included in a current basic block which is one of one or more basic blocks in a frequency transform block, according to a conversion table, to encode the image information which includes the data value. When binarizing the data value, the circuitry selects the conversion table from a plurality of tables including two or more tables which differ from each other in difference between a longest bit length and a shortest bit length of a plurality of binary values associated with a plurality of data values, according to the position of the current basic block in the current frequency transform block which is the frequency transform block including the current basic block, and binarizes the data value according to the conversion table selected.

Abstract: An encoder that encodes a current block in a picture includes circuitry and memory. Using the memory, the circuitry: performs a first transform on a residual signal of the current block using a first transform basis to generate first transform coefficients; and performs a second transform on the first transform coefficients using a second transform basis to generate second transform coefficients and quantizes the second transform coefficients, when the first transform basis is the same as a predetermined transform basis; and quantizes the first transform coefficients without performing the second transform, when the first transform basis is different from the predetermined transform basis.

Abstract: A method for use in a source device includes: acquiring a random number; transmitting the random number to a sink device through a High Definition Multimedia Interface-Consumer Electronics Control (HDMI-CEC) bus; receiving first signature information and capability information from the sink device through the HDMI-CEC bus, the first signature information being information in which the random number is encrypted with a first secret key of the sink device, the capability information being information about a display capability of the sink device; acquiring a result of a first determination whether first decrypted information is compatible with the transmitted random number, the first decrypted information being obtained by decrypting the first signature information with a first public key paired with the first secret key; determining that the received capability information is correct information when the result of the first determination is that the first decrypted information is compatible with the transmitted random number; and outputting video corresponding to the capability information to sink device.

Abstract: Provided is a display method of displaying, on a display device, video of video data where luminance of video is defined by a first EOTF indicating a correlation of HDR luminance and code values. The method includes: acquiring the video data; performing, regarding each of multiple pixels making up the video in the acquired video data, first determining of determining whether luminance of that pixel exceeds a first predetermined luminance; performing, regarding each of the multiple pixels, dual tone mapping where luminance of that pixel is reduced by a different format in a case of the luminance of the pixel being found to exceed the first predetermined luminance from the first determining, and a case of the luminance of the pixel being found to be equal to or lower than the first predetermined luminance; and displaying the video on the display device using the results of the dual tone mapping.
