    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a generally planar terminal and a U-shaped retainer. The electrical connector also includes a resilient spring disposed intermediate the terminal and the retainer. A contact insert distinct from the resilient spring is disposed intermediate the spring and the terminal. The contact insert defines an array of paired negative and positive protrusions. The spring is configured to exert a normal connection force on the array of paired negative and positive protrusions and form electrical contact points between the terminal and a planar mating terminal inserted into a gap between the spring and the contact insert through the array of paired negative and positive protrusions. An electrical connector assembly and a method of manufacturing such an electrical connector assembly are also provided.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are described that implement determining one or more characteristics of the interior of a vehicle that lead to a reliable detection or observation of objects even if the direct line of sight between the objects and the camera is occluded. In an aspect, a computer implemented method includes the following operations carried out by computer hardware components: determining an image of an area of a cabin inside a vehicle using a sensor, the image including at least one first region representing the area reflected by at least one reflective surface provided in the cabin and at least one second region representing the area in a direct line of sight; and determining one or more characteristics inside the cabin of the vehicle based on at least one of: the at least one first region of the image; or the at least one second region of the image.

    Abstract: A camera includes a phased metalens positioned between an objective lens and an imager of the camera. The phased metalens is configured to adjust a focus plane of an image in a field of view of the camera in response to changes in an operating temperature of the camera. The phased metalens adjusts the focus plane for multiple frequencies or wavelengths light such that all light wave-fronts exiting the phased metalens arrive at the imager at a same time.

    Abstract: The methods and systems herein enable leveraging V2X for host vehicle trajectories. A host vehicle broadcasts a trajectory request that is received by a remote system. The remote system determines that a tracked object being tracked by the remote system corresponds to the host vehicle and determines a trajectory of the tracked object. The remote system sends a response to the host vehicle indicating the trajectory of the tracked object as a trajectory of the host vehicle. The host vehicle calculates scores for one or more safety metrics for the received trajectory and an internally generated trajectory (e.g., using separate hardware components). Based on the scores, the host vehicle selects from among the trajectories or generates a trajectory and sends the selected/generated trajectory to a vehicle system such that the vehicle system can operate the host vehicle according to the selected/generated trajectory.

    Abstract: This document describes vehicle localization using map and vision data. For example, this document describes a localization system that obtains a map centerline point and a vision centerline point of a lane of a roadway. The localization system also obtains the position of the vehicle. The localization system can then compare the map centerline point and the vision centerline point to generate a lateral and a longitudinal correction relative to the vehicle's position. The lateral and longitudinal corrections are used to generate a corrected position. In this way, the described localization system can provide accurate vehicle localization that addresses potential drift caused by lapsed or inaccurate positioning data and allows for the operation of assisted-driving and autonomous-driving systems at higher speeds and on roadways with tighter curves.

    Abstract: An ejector for a molding machine includes an ejector plate and an ejector rod. The ejector plate has an opening and a distance block attached to the ejector plate. The ejector rod includes a first and a second end portion. The first end portion is in the opening of the ejector plate. The ejector rod has a first initial position relative to the ejector plate. The first end portion of the ejector rod is pushed in the direction of the ejector plate by a first force applied to the second end portion of the ejector rod. The ejector also includes a spring around the first end portion of the ejector rod and coupled to the ejector plate. The spring is configured to provide a second force to the ejector plate upon application of the first force to the second end portion of the ejector rod. There is always a gap between the first end portion of the ejector rod and the ejector plate.
