Abstract:
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in a patient is treated by administering to the patient oxidatively stressed CLL cells. The CLL cells are oxidatively stressed extracorporeally, e.g. by subjection to oxygen/ozone mixtures, and preferably are simultaneously subjected to other stressors such as UV light. Preferably also, the CLL cells are autologous, and are contained in an aliquot of the patient's blood at the time of subjection to stressing.
Abstract:
A process for the continuous production of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane (HFC-236fa) and/or 1-chloro-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HCFC-235fa) in the liquid phase wherein the HFC-235fa and/or HFC-236fa serve as solvents for the reaction. When the reaction is conducted in the presence of a catalyst of SbF.sub.3, SbF.sub.5 or a mixture of SbF.sub.5 and HSO.sub.3 F, the reaction mass is unexpectedly less corrosive to the reaction vessel used.
Abstract:
A spoon construction is provided for the storage and dispensing of unit quantities of liquids or powders, such as medicants. The liquid or powder is received within a bowl portion, the bowl portion being sealed by a cover-piece removably affixed to the bowl. The spoon construction may be provided with a separate handle member adapted for removable engagement with the bowl member.
Abstract:
A mobile, semi-automated, multilayered aquaponic appliance for the transport and cultivation of plants, aquatic animals, farm foul and bees. The multi-layered aquaponic appliance utilizes vertical orientation to increase product yield and can be deployed indoors or outdoors. The appliance decreases reliance on municipal resources by generating its own water from an atmospheric condenser, collecting rainwater and harnessing photovoltaic technology that stores energy generated from the sun. The mobile capability of the appliance, when used in plurality, reduces the amount of space used therefore maximizing collective production for commercial applications. The appliance can be assembled and disassembled which allows it to be stored, operated and transported in a variety of spaces. The appliance incorporates some of the design elements of the traditional greenhouse by utilizing porous, translucent cover panels that serve as seedling propagation surfaces and a means of ventilation for the interior of the appliance. The irrigation system utilizes an electrical aquatic pump that continually cycles nutrients to plants and aquatic life within the appliance. The irrigation system includes a seed incubator that is inundated with purified water generated by the atmospheric condenser and from excess water collected by an errant drip siphon. A digitally functioning visual monitoring and sound transmittance device allows the appliance to be operated from anywhere in the world that can receive an internet signal. The appliance contains a motorized rotary carousel that raises each growing tray to a specific height for irrigation and a lower height for ergonomic purposes. All of the electrically powered functions of the appliance can be controlled manually or through remote access of a mobile device.
Abstract:
An approach for establishing a communication session according to a subscriber profile that is automatically updated is disclosed. A locator device, which is associated with a subscriber and includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) transponder, outputs geographic information that is transmitted to a communications network for establishing the communication session. The geographic information corresponds to one of a plurality of addresses specified in the subscriber profile to set a current address. The addresses are associated with a plurality of devices adapted to complete the communication session. The one address is designated as the current address if the geographic information corresponds to the one address, otherwise the current address is set to a default address, wherein the communication session is established based on the current address.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided in which a digital image is transmitted to a presentation projector resource over a wireless transmission medium using a reduced amount of transmission bandwidth by transmitting a subset of the digital image data. The subset image data may be a delta subset that represents those areas of the image that have changed since the previous transmission. The subset image data may also be a scalable vector graphics representation of the subset of the digital image. Header data is provided to further describe the subset image data. A projector discovery logic selects a suitable projector resource based on the order or signal strength of the discovery replies. A wireless image transmission session is established with the selected projector resource during which the projector is unavailable to other devices. The subset image data may be compressed and transmission coordinated with the projector resource so that the data is sent only when it is ready to be received. A wireless to digital visual interface (DVI) graphics engine decompresses and renders the image for output to a DVI connector receptacle. The rendered image is projected by the projector resource in accordance with the associated header data so that the exact image that appears on the image generation device also appears on the projected display.
Abstract:
A web-enabled automation control module (ACM) includes an ACM central processing unit (CPU) and a web and file transfer system electrically connected to the ACM CPU, and embedded within the ACM. The system is configured to process hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) requests from a network.
Abstract:
A method for effecting communication between devices in a communications network, the method comprising managing a communications process control flow; providing a plurality of re-usable components of the process control flow in which each component comprises a process control activity between two of the devices; aggregating the plurality of re-usable components into a sequence of the communications process control flow; in which each re-usable component is arranged to process a data structure; in which the data structure is the same for each re-usable component of the communications process control flow.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of treating an excessive immune response including an aberrant/enhanced Th1 response by administering a helminthic parasite preparation in an amount sufficient to reduce the excessive immune response in an individual. This invention is generally directed to autoimmune diseases which involve an excessive immune response or an aberrant/enhanced Th1 response. More specifically, the present invention is directed to the treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, both known as IBD. While the present invention discloses specific information about the treatment of IBD, the disclosure is in no way limiting. Additionally, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes mellitus, lupus erythematosis, sarcoidosis and multiple sclerosis can be treated by the methods and compositions disclosed therein.
Abstract:
A system for removing photoresist from semiconductor wafers is disclosed. The system utilizes a solid-state laser having wavelengths in the near-visible and visible portions of the electromagnetic spectrum to remove photoresist without requiring hazardous gases or wet solutions. In addition, the system does not damage the substrate being cleaned, nor leave a carbon residue requiring further processing to remove. The system uses photon energy, oxygen, water vapor and ozone to interact with contaminants on a surface, forming a gas reaction zone (GRZ). The GRZ reacts and completely removes the photoresist or other unwanted contamination.
