Abstract:
A sensor for measuring the amount of a component in solution is disclosed. The sensor has a measuring electrode with at least one current collector, electrically connected to one of the electrical contacts and coated with a mixture comprising at least one oxidation-reduction enzyme specific to said component and at least one mediator transferring the electrons between said enzyme and said current collector wherein the mediator is a transition metal complex with at least one bipyridine, terpyridine or phenanthroline ligand substituted by at least one electron donor group. This sensor is particularly useful in the detection of glucose.
Abstract:
The present invention is an apparatus used for the removal of moisture from of a section of polymer filament just prior to its consumption by an external process. The apparatus removes moisture by heating the polymer filament in a controlled manner to a temperature which releases the moisture from the polymer filament, but below the temperature that significantly distorts the polymer filament so that the mechanical structure of the polymer filament (diameter and linearity) is substantially maintained. As the polymer filament is externally consumed, it moves through the apparatus. The apparatus removes moisture from polymer filament more rapidly than other methods.
Abstract:
A method for processing seismic data. The method includes receiving the seismic data acquired at two or more sensors on a towed marine survey and regularizing the received seismic data into a spatial domain. After regularizing the seismic data, the method includes classifying the regularized seismic data below and equal to a predetermined frequency as low-frequency seismic data. The method then calculates a set of low-frequency Green's functions using interferometry on the low-frequency seismic data described above. The method then processes high-frequency seismic data of the seismic data to create a set of high-frequency Green's functions at one or more source locations of the towed marine survey. After creating the set of high-frequency Green's functions, the method merges the set of low-frequency Green's functions and the set of high-frequency Green's functions to create a set of broad-band Green's functions at the source locations.
Abstract:
A respiratory humidifier chamber for use with a breathing assistance apparatus is described. The chamber includes a water-tight vessel having an inlet for receiving gases from the breathing assistance apparatus, and an outlet through which heated humidified gases exit the vessel for delivery to a patient. The chamber has a partition which divides the chamber into upstream and downstream sub-chambers. The sub-chambers are separated by the partition except for an aperture which passes through the partition and allows gaseous communication between the sub-chambers. The downstream sub-chamber includes a heater base which heats a volume of water contained within it. The aperture is located above the volume of water. The upstream sub-chamber contains an internal heater which heats gases passing through it from the inlet to the aperture. At least part of the internal heater is located immediately adjacent the aperture.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed to treat or prevent at least one disease or condition in a subject in need thereof comprising administering a compound of Formula (I): or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, or ester thereof, wherein R1 and R2 are independently chosen from a hydrogen atom or linear, branched, and/or cyclic C1-C6 alkyl groups, with the proviso that R1 and R2 are not both hydrogen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof. Such diseases or conditions may relate to coronary heart disease (CHD), for example atherosclerosis; metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance; and/or a dyslipidemic condition such as hypertriglyceridemia (HTG), elevated LDL-cholesterol, elevated total-cholesterol, elevated Apo B and low HDL-cholesterol. The present disclosure further provides for a method of reducing atherosclerosis development. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of Formula (I) are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed to enhance surveying techniques. In one embodiment, a virtual response is estimated that corresponds to energy propagated within a subsurface region between a virtual source and a virtual source estimation receiver, wherein the subsurface region corresponds to a survey zone including: a plurality of receivers deployed within the survey zone, a first subzone having at least one actual source, a second subzone within the first subzone; the virtual source is a first receiver disposed in the second subzone; and the virtual source estimation receiver is a second receiver.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing geophysical data are disclosed. In one embodiment, interferometry and modeling are used to generate and then remove estimates of ground roll between a source and one or more boundary locations.
Abstract:
A bi-polar battery has a positive electrode unit, a negative electrode unit, at least one bi-polar electrode unit stacked therebetween, an electrolyte layer separating each adjacent electrode unit, and a gasket positioned about each electrolyte layer for creating a seal about the electrolyte layer in conjunction with the electrode units adjacent thereto. The bi-polar battery also includes a wrapper for maintaining the seals created by the gaskets.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for wireless network selection based on attributes stored in a network database are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method comprises receiving a network identifier associated with a wireless network, determining if a network profile associated with the network identifier is stored within a network profile database comprising a plurality of network profiles, and if the network profile associated with the network identifier is stored within the network profile database, retrieving the network profile, or if the network profile associated with the network identifier is not stored within the network profile database, initiating the network profile, obtaining an attribute associated with the network device identifier, and storing the attribute within the network profile.
