Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for over-voltage protection of device inputs are disclosed. An example apparatus to protect a device from an over-voltage condition disclosed herein comprises a switch coupled between a device input and at least one component of the device, and a voltage compensator to pull a control input of the switch to a voltage associated with the device input to open the switch to protect the device component from the over-voltage condition.
Abstract:
A ferromagnetic memory cell is disclosed having a base (21), oriented in a horizontal plane, a bit (19), made of a ferromagnetic material, and a sense/write line (20), positioned proximate the bit (19) sufficient to detect the directed polarity of the bit when a first current is applied thereto, and to direct the polarity of the bit when a second larger current is applied thereto in a given direction. The bit (19) has a height that is oriented perpendicular to the horizontal plane of the base, and a polarity that can be directed along the height.
Abstract:
An airflow metering device, including a conventional airflow sensing device signally connected to a signal processor is shown, having an input flow signal correlatable to a magnitude of mass air flowing past the airflow sensing device. The signal processor is operable to determine a flow correction factor based upon a direction and magnitude of the mass air flowing past the airflow sensing device. The output of the airflow metering device is an accurate measure of airflow, and comprises the input flow signal of the airflow sensing device adjusted by the flow correction factor determined by the signal processor.
Abstract:
An improved etching and cleaning composition for semiconductor devices is provided in which the etch solution incorporates a novel surfactant comprising a combination of a linear perfluorocarboxylic acid, a cyclic amine and an aliphatic alcohol.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a spool for a supply of printing material, said spool comprising a first part, said first part comprising a shaft on which the supply of printing material is mountable, a second part, said second part having an opening and being arranged to retain a supply of printing material on the first part, said opening being arranged to engage said shaft, wherein one of said opening and the shaft is resilient and the other of the opening and the shaft has at least one part which extends towards the said one of said opening and the shaft more than at least one other part thereof to thereby cause said opening to engage with said shaft.
Abstract:
An IP telephony gateway and a user interface resource enable a subscriber to place an outgoing call according to the voice over IP (H.323) protocol to a destination party from a user interface session of an intelligent dial tone service such as voice activated dialing, and resume the user interface session upon completion of the outgoing call with the destination party. The IP telephony gateway establishes a user interface session for the subscriber with the user interface resource across a first Real Time Protocol (RTP) data stream. The user interface resource initiates a second RTP data stream to a destination party in response to reception of a prescribed command from the subscriber. Although an RTP bridge connecting the first and second RTP data streams can be maintained by the user interface resource, the user interface resource may also use the Empty Capability Set feature in the H.323 standard to cause the IP telephony gateway to close the first and second RTP data streams to the user interface resource. The user interface resource then issues Non-Empty Capability Set messages to the IP telephony gateway for the first and second RTP data streams, causing the IP telephony gateway to internally bridge the first and second RTP data streams. The user interface resource monitors connections between the subscriber and the destination party, and upon detecting a disconnect by the destination party causes the IP telephony gateway to resume the user interface session, by repeating the sequence of sending Empty Capability Set and Non-Empty Capability Set messages to the IP telephony gateway to break down the bridge and re-establish the connection between the subscriber and the user interface resource.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are described for use in the area of equalizing and measuring the quality of steam exiting multiple branches in a two-phase distribution system. The system utilizes fluid level elevational differences to provide a self-correcting mechanism so that the system may be utilized regardless of incoming fluid quality or pressure. The system does not require an inlet seperator. A system having a T-junction with upper and lower manifolds is described. Also described is a system having a differential liquid bypass and vapor branch with flow restrictions. The flow restrictions may be an orifice plate, a venturi, or a control valve.
Abstract:
An optical fiber element includes an optical fiber having a numerical aperture ranging from 0.08 to 0.34 and a protective coating affixed to the outer surface of the optical fiber. The protective coating has a Shore D ..hardnees.!. .Iadd.hardness .Iaddend.value of 65 or more and remains on the optical fiber during connectorization so that the fiber is neither damaged by the blades of a stripping tool nor subjected to chemical or physical attack.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for implementing interprocedural analysis using a standard compilation user interface. The present invention stores an intermediate representation of the source code, associated interprocedural summary information, and compilation options into an extended object format file. Interprocedural analysis functions are then performed on each of the extended object format files, resulting in IPA output files which preserve the compilation options. A compiler back end is invoked for each IPA output file to produce a standard format binary object file. The standard format binary object files are finally linked together to produce a final output, such that the final output can be either an executable program or a dynamic shared object. The present invention executes the interprocedural analysis functions, the compiler back end, and the linking under the control of a linkage editor.
