An apparatus and method for processing a frame in consideration of processing capability and power consumption for each core in a multi-core system are provided. To perform a user interface drawing in a multi-core environment, an optimum combination of hardware components capable of operating with the minimum of power consumption while satisfying a requirement of a user may be obtained and a parallel user interface drawing may be performed by use of the optimum combination of hardware components.

The method includes selecting a macroscopic scan mode in which there are a small number of divided regions or a microscopic scan mode in which there are a large number of divided regions according to complexity of a background including an object to be detected, dividing an input image into one or more regions according to the selected scan mode, merging adjacent regions having similar characteristics among the divided regions, extracting a search region by excluding a region having a high probability that the object to be detected does not exist from the divided or merged regions, extracting feature data including a feature vector for detecting the object in the search region, and detecting the object in the search region using the extracted feature data.

Provided is preparation of poly(alkylene carbonate) through alternating copolymerization of carbon dioxide and epoxide. According to the disclosure, by introducing a diepoxide compound to alternating copolymerization of carbon dioxide and epoxide compound using a metal(III) prepared with salen-type ligands containing quaternary ammonium salt as a catalyst, some of the polymer chains may be cross-linked to thus increase an average molecular weight of the copolymer and extend a distribution of molecular weight. A resin prepared according to this method may have high mechanical strength and rheological advantages.

This invention relates to a Salen type ligand including three or more quaternary ammonium salts of nitrate anions, to a trivalent metal complex compound prepared from this ligand and a method of preparing the same, to a method of preparing polycarbonate by copolymerizing an epoxide compound and carbon dioxide using the complex compound as a catalyst, and to a method of separating and collecting the catalyst from the copolymer after copolymerization. This catalyst used to copolymerize an epoxide compound and carbon dioxide can be more simply prepared, and has lower catalyst preparation and recovery costs, and higher activity, compared to conventional catalysts.

Collections of laterally crystallized semiconductor islands for use in thin film transistors and systems and methods for making same are described. A display device includes a plurality of thin film transistors (TFTs) on a substrate, such that the TFTs are spaced apart from each other and each include a channel region that has a crystalline microstructure and a direction along which a channel current flows. The channel region of each of the TFTs contains a crystallographic grain that spans the length of that channel region along its channel direction. Each crystallographic grain in the channel region of each of the TFTs is physically disconnected from and crystallographically uncorrelated with each crystallographic grain in the channel region of each adjacent TFT.
