A backlight assembly is provided. The backlight assembly includes at least one lamp that generates a first light and a light diffusion member that is disposed over the lamp and diffuses the first light to generate a second light having a uniform brightness distribution. The light diffusion member includes a diffusion layer that diffuses the first light and a light path modulation member protruded from the diffusion layer to modulate a path of the first light. The light path modulation member is integrally formed with the diffusion layer.

Disclosed are a cold cathode fluorescent lamp, a container for receiving the same and a liquid crystal display device having the container. The lamp includes a lamp tube, a first electrode having a first end disposed inside the lamp tube and a second end disposed outside the lamp tube and a second electrode plated on an outer surface of the lamp tube. The cold cathode fluorescent lamp is easily coupled/separated to/from the container having a clip type power-supplying module in a clip-coupling manner. In addition, a shock absorbing member is installed at the clip type power-supplying module so as to absorb an impact applied to the cold cathode fluorescent lamp. A brightness non-uniformity between cold cathode fluorescent lamps can be prevented, a power consumption of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp can be reduced, and an assembling work and productivity are remarkably improved.

Disclosed are a lamp, a method of fabricating the same and an LCD having the same. Electrode is disposed on an outer surface of a lamp tube, and an adhesive member is interposed between the electrode and the lamp tube. The adhesive member is hardened and expanded by means of heating, and adheres the electrode to the lamp tube. Thus, voids generated during forming the electrode on the outer surface is removed, and images having a high quality are obtained.

A light source device for preventing a light guide plate from being discolored due to a light supplied by a lamp is disclosed. At least one masking film that is made of a transition metal oxide is disposed in a pathway of the light that is emitted by the lamp and transmitted to a display unit to display images in order to cut off ultraviolet rays having particular wavelengths capable of discoloring the light guide plate. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the light guide plate, which is made of polyolefin resin composition to make it lightweight, from discoloring in yellow.

Disclosed are an illumination device capable of improving an optical efficiency of a light generated from a light source and a reflection type liquid crystal device using the illumination device. Between at least one light source and a first light guiding plate, which is provided to uniformly project the light incident from a first side towards a second side, a second light guiding plate for projecting the incident light towards the first side of the first light guiding plate is provided. A distance between a light projecting portion of the second light guiding plate and a light reflecting portion opposite the light projecting portion becomes narrow as an amount of light flux of the light emitted from at least one light source decreases. Accordingly, the light efficiency can be improved by increasing the probability of variation in optical routes for the light generated from each light source, though the number of the light sources disposed at a side of the second light guiding plate is increased.

A liquid crystal display device has a light guiding plate with a novel structure. The liquid crystal display device has a back light assembly including a light source and the light guiding plate, a display unit for displaying an image and a case for fixedly receiving the back light assembly and the display unit. The light guiding plate is formed at a bottom portion thereof with a light diffusing pattern for uniformly outputting the incident light. A light dispersing member for dispersing the light in the light guiding plate is provided in the light guiding plate. The leaking light is outputted towards the display unit by contacting with the dispersing particles of the light dispersing member, so the light efficiency and the brightness are improved.

There is disclosed a method of monitoring a source contact in a flash memory by which whether a source contact having a narrow contact area contacts or not can be easily monitored using over-erase cell characteristic in a flash cell, in a flash memory device in which a source line is formed by a local interconnection method. In the present invention, in order to monitor a contact state at source contacts, the same voltage to the erase condition of a cell is applied to respective terminals (VG terminal, VD terminal, VS terminal and VSS terminal) wherein all the electrons existing at a floating gate in all the cells connected to the VS terminal and VSS terminal become turned on so that they can be over-erased. A data transmitting/receiving method using distributed path control in a data switching system is disclosed, including the steps of: (1) storing data by distributing a first code and a last code of a received data frame, and then reading and storing a frame header; requesting a path setting and then initializing a trial number; transmitting a setup request signal in the next time slot with a destination port address if a polling address is its own address, and thus transmitting the stored header through a data channel when the response signal received from the destination output port indicates an end of the path controlling operation; and transmitting data stored in an input buffer to the end of a frame and requesting a path release at its polling address; (2) releasing the path in case of path release request when the destination port address is its own port address; if the output port is not in use, the output buffer is not is a full state, and a communication channel is available, indicating the end of the path controlling operation in a response bus in case of the path setup request and receiving a switch path setup data to discriminate an initial code and last code of the frame, thereby transmitting the data.

Disclosed are a back light assembly for preventing discoloration and deformation caused by heat generated from a lamp, and a liquid crystal display device for displaying an enhanced image. The back light assembly includes a receiving container, a lamp, a glass substrate and a diffuser. The receiving container has a receiving space. The lamp for generating the light is disposed in the receiving space. The glass substrate is interposed between the liquid crystal display panel and the lamp. The diffuser diffuses the light generated by the lamp so as to unify a luminance distribution of the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display device includes the back light assembly.
