Abstract:
The unitary cylinder head and liner combination, is vertically cast as a one piece unit. The liner incorporates a water jacket therein. The water jacket is draftless, allowing water to circulate therethrough more efficiently, increasing cooling capabilities. Such vertical one piece casting is made possible by a novel two piece core which eliminates the need for welding of metal bands onto an outer surface of the liner to produce the water jacket thereof. A novel method of vertical casting is also provided which allows the cylinder head to be cast integral with the liner, allows for increased water capacity in the liner and integral head passages, and allows for a plurality of enlarged air intake channels to be provided.

Abstract:
The improved outlet end cooling system for a cylinder head of a locomotive engine includes a modified water pathway in the cylinder head, an outlet therefrom exiting from an upwardly directed surface of the cylinder head, and further including a modified rocker arm support having a planar bottom support surface and having an inlet port therein which is engageable with an outlet port in the cylinder head. The support has a water pathway therein which terminates in a nipple, the nipple extending past the cylinder head and downwardly along a side wall of the cylinder head into engagement with a remaining portion of the waterway. The improved outlet end allows for equal thickness of the side wall around the entire extent thereof, and eliminates a temperature gradient in an area of the cylinder head underlying a crab plate engaged thereover, virtually eliminating cracking and extending the useful life of the cylinder head.
Abstract:
A delivery system for attaching and detaching an ultrasonic surgical blade/coupler and an acoustical mount. An adaptor sleeve receives and encapsulates the blade to avoid accidents resulting from the sharp blade edge. A cylindrical member receives the sleeve and a ratcheting mechanism is provided between the adaptor and member to facilitate rotation of the adaptor and coupler upon rotation of the member up to a predetermined torque, ensuring threaded connection between the coupler and acoustical mount sufficient for transmission of ultrasonic energy. To remove the blade/coupler, the member is rotated in the opposite direction, whereby unlimited torque may be applied through the ratchet mechanism to unthread the coupler from the mount.

A delivery system for attaching and detaching an ultrasonic surgical blade/coupler and an acoustical mount. An adaptor sleeve receives and encapsulates the blade to avoid accidents resulting from the sharp edge of the blade. In a two-piece embodiment hereof, a cylindrical member receives the sleeve and a ratcheting mechanism is provided between the adaptor and member to facilitate rotation of the adaptor and coupler upon rotation of the member up to a predetermined torque, ensuring threaded connection between the coupler and acoustical mount sufficient for transmission of ultrasonic energy. To remove the blade/coupler, the member is rotated in the opposite direction, whereby unlimited torque may be applied through the ratchet mechanism to unthread the coupler from the mount. In a one-piece embodiment hereof, the adaptor integrally carries an element pivotal for movement about an axis parallel to the axis of the sleeve to engage one or the other of projections on the adaptor flange to rotate the adaptor in either direction. In one direction, the element slips past the projection at a predetermined magnitude of torque.
Abstract:
A system to manage backup and recovery meta data. A database (54) including a schema (70) having a file table (72), a backup table (74), and a link table (76) stores the backup and recovery meta data. A computerized console portal system (30) then accepts instruction regarding the meta data from a computerized administrator system (24).
Abstract:
This invention concerns a composition comprising a blend of polyolefin with the reaction of a functionalized polyolefin and polyetheramine in which the polyetheramine is grafted into the functionalized polyolefin in a customary mixing apparatus. A process for producing the reaction product of functionalized polypropylene and polyetheramine by melting with polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is also disclosed. Blends of the present invention are advantageously useful to prepare paintable automotive body parts. This invention further includes dyeable polyolefin compositions containing the reaction product of functionalized polyolefin and polyetheramine. Dyeable polyolefin fibers, including polypropylene fibers, are disclosed, which may be made by melt spinning, and which may be employed to make woven and non-woven fabric. The polyolefin employed in the practice of this invention may be a flexible polyolefin.
Abstract:
The piston made in accordance with the teachings herein includes a primary compression ring groove, a bottom and rear wall surface of which are hardened by the method of laser hardening. The method includes the steps of spraying the primary groove with a graphite spray and then directing an angled elliptical in cross section laser beam at the bottom surface of the groove while rotating the cylinder head at predetermined parameters.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising copolyetherester resins, copolyetherimide ester resins, or mixtures thereof, in combination with a high molecular weight polyester resin or mixture of such resins, with relatively high loadings of fillers selected from zinc oxide, barium sulfate, zirconium oxide, zirconium silicate, strontium sulfate or a mixture of any of such fillers, provide highly dense thermoplastic molded articles with properties suitable to replace ceramics and filled thermosets in many important applications.
