Abstract:
A subsea equipment-protection apparatus including: a cap (1) and a sleeve (2), wherein the cap and the sleeve are configured to be supportable by a foundation (6) of the subsea equipment (16). The cap and the sleeve are arranged such that at least a portion of the cap may enter an opening of the sleeve and be supported by the sleeve; and thereby the cap and sleeve cover and protect the subsea equipment.
Abstract:
There is described subsea apparatus and a method for processing fluid from a well. In an embodiment, a pipeline may be arranged to carry the multiphase fluid containing liquid and gas from the well. An outlet extending through a wall of the pipeline may let gas out of the pipeline from said region and through the outlet to separate said gas and liquid. A compressor may be connected to the outlet to compress the separated gas. Separated liquid may be conveyed along a sloping portion of the pipe to a low point in the seabed terrain, and may be conveyed to a pump for boosting the flow of liquid. The pump may be located in an excavated hole or glory hole below the seabed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of processing seismic data. The method may include calculating a number of calculated structure tensors for each of a number of seismic data lines, the seismic data lines being spatially distributed about an area of the surface of the Earth. The method also may include interpolating the calculated structure tensors to find interpolated structure tensors in a region of the area between the lines of the seismic data lines, and calculating calculated seismic data from the interpolated structure tensors.
Abstract:
A first property, derivable from mass, of a drilling fluid is measured at a point upstream of a cuttings removal device. A second property (also derivable from mass) is measured at a point downstream of the cuttings removal device. A difference between the properties is determined over a period of time to obtain an estimate of the rate of cuttings removal. This allows the property of the drilling fluid before and after cuttings removal to be compared to give an indication of the rate of cuttings removal, which is indicative of the borehole cleaning.
Abstract:
A method of plugging a well extending into a hydrocarbon bearing formation fascilitates temporary or permanent abandonment of the well. The method includes detonating one or more explosive charges within a tubular or tubulars extending through the well in order to remove, fragment and or cut one or more sections of the tubulars around the entire circumference of the well to expose the surrounding formation or cement. The well is then filled in the region of the exposed surrounding formation or cement with a sealing material so as to form one or more plugs within the well to seal the well.
Abstract:
System for mooring a large vessel for production of hydrocarbons, such vessel for example being a FPSO vessel, the mooring system comprising at least two floating bodies of the hang-off type, moored by means of differentiated compliance spread anchoring system to the sea bed, allowing partly weathervaning of the large vessel; a riser system extending from the sea bed to each the floating bodies, and means for transfer of fluids from the two floating bodies to the large vessel, the floating bodies and the large vessel being provided with locking means, locking floating bodies to the large vessel at the bow and the stern of the vessel in a mechanically rigid manner, thus providing a integrated, rigidly fixed unit comprising the large vessel and the floating bodies.
Abstract:
A method for use in surveying a subsurface region beneath a body of water by detecting S waves propagating through the subsurface region. The method comprises using a first sensor configuration to detect mixed S and P waves on or in the subsurface region, using a second sensor configuration located on or in relatively close proximity to the subsurface region to detect P waves in the water, and using the P waves detected in the water to compensate the detected mixed S and P waves, and thereby attenuate the effects of P waves in the mixed S and P waves.
Abstract:
There is provided a process for the prevention or reduction of surge wave instabilities during the transport in a flowline of a three phase gas condensate comprising a gas phase, an aqueous phase and a condensate phase, characterized in that a dispersing agent is added to the three phase gas condensate which is able to disperse the aqueous phase in the condensate phase or the condensate phase in the aqueous phase, and a means for the prevention or reduction of surge wave instabilities during the transportation of a three phase gas condensate.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of at least one ARN acid or salt thereof comprising: (I) allowing at least one ARN acid salt to form during the production of crude oil in the presence of water; (II) removing at least 5 wt % of the formed at least one ARN acid salt, e.g. from the oil water interface; and optionally (III) converting said salt into an acid.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of storing CO2 in a geological formation, said method comprising (i) injecting a first composition comprising CO2 into said formation; and (ii) injecting a second composition comprising CO2 and at least one CO2 soluble polymer into said formation, wherein steps (i) and (ii) are performed separately and in any order and wherein said first and second compositions are different.
