Abstract:
In a packet communication system, session border controllers receive and process communication packets to detect DTMF signaling. If DTMF signaling is detected, the session border controllers determine if DTMF transcoding is required. If DTMF transcoding is required, the session border controllers transfer DTMF transcoding instructions to a DTMF transcoding server. In response to the transcoding instructions, the DTMF transcoding server transfers transcoded DTMF signaling.
Abstract:
What is disclosed is a method of operating a call processing system to route a voice-over-packet call between a wireless communication device and a destination device, where the destination device is located in a geographic area served by a communication network. The method includes receiving a request for the call originating from the wireless communication device, where the request comprises a destination identifier of the destination device and a location identifier of the wireless communication device. The method also includes processing the destination identifier and the location identifier to determine if the wireless communication device is located in the geographic area served by the communication network. The method also includes selecting a first route for the call from a packet network serving the wireless communication device to the communication network serving the destination device if the wireless communication device is located in the geographic area served by the communication network, and selecting a second route for the call from the packet network serving the wireless communication device to the communication network serving the destination device if the wireless communication device is not located in the geographic area served by the communication network. The method also includes transferring routing instructions for the call.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods to provide data session continuity between wireless networks. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving a request to create a data session for a wireless communication device exchanging communications with a wireless local area network via a wireless access point. The method further provides determining an access point identifier for the wireless access point and selecting a control system for a cellular communication network of a plurality of cellular communication networks based on the access point identifier. The method further provides anchoring the data session to the control system.
Abstract:
A method of communication is provided. The method comprises receiving a voice call and, based on receiving the voice call, accessing a plurality of stored messages transmitted by an originator of the voice call. The method further comprises presenting the identity of the originator of the voice call and at least part of one of the stored messages.
Abstract:
What is disclosed is a method of operating a wireless local area network (WLAN) access point. The method includes providing the WLAN for a user device to access a packet network, where the user device receives requested content transferred over the packet network through the WLAN access point. The method also includes receiving a message for delivery to the user device from a local interface of the WLAN access point, and in response to receiving the message for delivery to the user device, inhibiting transfer of the requested content received over the packet network to the user device. The method also includes transferring the message to the user device using addressing information associated with the requested content, and in response to receiving a confirmation of the message from the user device, resuming transfer of the requested content to the user device.
Abstract:
A call control system to route a voice over internet protocol call between a wireless communication device and a destination device comprises a communication interface and a processing system, wherein the destination device is located in a geographic area served by a communication network. The communication interface is configured to receive an authorization response from an authorization system located in a home wireless network of the wireless communication device, wherein the authorization response comprises a destination identifier of the destination device and a location identifier of the wireless communication device. The processing system is configured to process the destination identifier and the location identifier to determine if the wireless communication device is located in the geographic area, and if so, the processing system is configured to direct the communication interface to transfer the call over a source port associated with the geographic area served by the communication network.
Abstract:
There is disclosed herein a method, system and computer software product for associating a location with a wireless modem, wherein the modem has a modem identifier and a registered address associated therewith and wherein the method comprises: receiving a communication transmitted by the modem wherein the communication includes the modem identifier; determining whether the base station first receiving the communication is located within a predetermined proximity of the registered address; associating with the communication a receiving base station identifier of the base station that first received the communication; associating with the registered address a registered address base station identifier associated therewith; and comparing the registered address base station identifier with the receiving base station identifier.
Abstract:
A VoIP device stores a first set of VoIP parameters downloaded from a VoIP network to support call signaling associated with a primary user. The primary user enables a guest set-up mode by storing a guest access code to be associated with the guest user. The guest user enters a code on the VoIP device which the VoIP device compares to the stored guest access code and activates a guest profile if a match is detected. A second set of VoIP parameters is downloaded from the VoIP network and stored as part of the guest profile on the VoIP device to support call signaling associated with the guest user. SIP signaling is initiated between the VoIP device and the VoIP network including the directory number of the guest user, whereby the directory number of the guest user is mapped by the VoIP network to the VoIP device of the primary user. When the primary user initiates a call from the VoIP device, then the call is initiated using the first set of VoIP parameters. When the guest user initiates a call from the VoIP device, then the call is initiated using the second set of VoIP parameters.

Abstract:
A method and system for processing communications based on altitude is provided. When a network receives a request to connect a communication to or from a mobile station, the network will determine the mobile station's current altitude. The network can make this determination by acquiring a GPS reading of the mobile station's current location, which can include an indication of altitude as well as latitude and longitude. Based at least in part on the altitude, the network can then decide whether to allow the requested communication to proceed. For instance, if the altitude is greater than a predetermined threshold level, then the network may preclude the communication. A network can also take into consideration other factors in addition to the altitude of a mobile station, such as the latitude and longitude coordinates of the mobile station, in deciding whether to allow a requested communication to proceed.
