    Abstract: An electronic device display and a display cover layer may be coupled to a housing. The display may have an array of pixels that are configured to emit light. One or more light redirecting elements may be incorporated into the electronic device that redirect and thereby change the direction of light rays emitted from peripheral pixels in the display. The light redirecting elements may be used to enlarge the effective size of the display, to create images on sidewall surfaces of the display cover layer, and/or to create diffuse glowing areas around the periphery of the device. Light redirecting elements may be formed as integral portions of a display cover layer, as laminated optical films on a display cover layer, or as coating layers on a display cover layer. Afocal optical systems may be formed by placing first and second light redirecting elements on opposing first and second sides of a display cover layer.

    Abstract: An electronic device such as a wearable device may have an optical sensor. The optical sensor may have a light source such as one or more visible-light light-emitting diodes or other light-emitting devices and may have a light detector formed from one or more photodetectors. The wearable device may have a wearable housing in which the optical sensor is mounted. During operation, light from the light source may pass through a transparent portion of the housing, may reflect from an external object such as a wrist or other body part of a user, and may be received by the photodetectors after passing through light control members. The light control members may be arranged in a ring with a center and may have curved shapes with concave surfaces that face the center. Each light control member may be formed from a stack of laminated bent light control films.

    Abstract: A biometric button assembly may be disposed in an opening of an enclosure of an electronic device. The biometric button assembly may include an input member that forms an exterior surface of the button housing and is configured to receive inputs, for example from a user of the electronic device. The biometric button assembly may further include a biometric sensor for detecting the received inputs and transmitting a signal to a processor of the electronic device. The signal may correspond to a biometric characteristic, such as a fingerprint. A flexible conduit may transmit the signal to the processor. A portion of the flexible conduit and a seal may be positioned between the button assembly and the enclosure that prevents contaminants from entering the button housing and the enclosure.

The flexible display layer may be an organic light-emitting diode display layer or other layer with a flexible substrate. The flexible display layer may have a central region with peripheral edges.     Abstract: An electronic device may have a housing, a battery, a conductive coil, near-field communications circuitry, amplifier circuitry, and wireless charging circuitry. The housing may have a housing wall. The conductive coil may be adhered to the housing wall. The conductive coil may be coiled around a magnet. The amplifier circuitry may drive audio signals and/or haptic signals onto the conductive coil that cause the conductive coil to vibrate the housing wall. The near-field communications circuitry may convey near-field communications signals through the housing wall using the conductive coil. The wireless charging circuitry may receive wireless power for charging the battery through the housing wall using the conductive coil. If desired, the conductive coil may include a first set of windings that lie within a surface extending along the housing wall and/or a second set of vertically-stacked windings that extend away from the housing wall.
