Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method and apparatus for resolving domain name system queries using unique top-level domains in a private network space are disclosed. For example, the method determines that a domain name service query specifies a destination residing in a private network space rather than in a public Internet space. The method then routes the domain name service query to a top-level domain name service server associated with the private network space, without routing the domain name service query to a root domain name service server in the public Internet space. The top-level domain name system server resides in the highest level of a hierarchy of domain name system servers belonging to the private network space.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving, at a network component of a first carrier network from a source device, a telephone number of a destination device configured to communicate via a second carrier network. The method further includes in response to a query message sent to a telephone number mapping device of an internetwork packet exchange network, receiving a name server record at the network component, the name server record indicating a domain name associated with a second telephone number mapping device of the second carrier network. The method also includes in response to the network component sending the domain name to a domain name server of the internetwork packet exchange network, receiving an Internet protocol address of the second telephone number mapping device. The method includes sending, from the network component to the second telephone number device, a second query message based on the Internet protocol address.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to achieve internetwork connectivity. Initiation is detected, by a first device on a first network, of an internet protocol (IP) connection with a second device on a second network, wherein the first network includes a plurality of client devices that are configured to send requests for inter-network connection information. A subset of the client devices are selected, wherein each of the subset of client devices are configured to query for connection information relating to the second network. The subset of devices are caused to query the at least one other network for the connection information relating to the second network. The connection information is received relating to the second network. The connection information is caused to be used in establishing the IP connection between the first device and the second device.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method and system to interconnect a first communications carrier to a second communications carrier by receiving a request to connect a communication from a first carrier to a second carrier; modifying a private ENUM (tElephone NUmber Mapping) domain of the request to include an intercarrier ENUM apex based domain; retrieving a routing record using a domain name server (DNS) indicated by the intercarrier ENUM apex based domain; and routing the communication to the second carrier using the routing record. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
In some cases, a method may include receiving information at a media device that is associated with movement of an accessory device. The accessory device is communicatively coupled to the media device via a media interface of the media device (e.g., a mini-phone jack of the media device). The method includes determining, at the media device, whether the accessory device satisfies accessory device orientation criteria based on the information. In response to determining that the accessory device does not satisfy the accessory device orientation criteria, the method includes generating a signal. The signal may be communicated from the media device to the accessory device via the media interface. In some cases, the signal may include accessory device re-orientation information.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for identifying a subscriber home domain in a communication network are described. A national subscriber profile is partitioned into regions and a NAPTR resource record is modified to identify in which region a particular subscriber is located. In response to a calling party requesting that a connection to a called party be established, a database is queried to provide a modified NAPTR record which identifies the region in which the called party is located. A connection can then be established without polling each region.
Abstract:
Techniques for validating alignment between network element configuration and DNS records associated with a communication network are presented. Alignment management component (AMC) can retrieve respective configuration parameter data items relating to respective configuration parameters associated with respective resource-related identifiers, and respective metadata items associated with the respective resource-related identifiers, from a configuration data store; and retrieve respective DNS records from respective DNS name servers, based on analyzing the respective metadata items associated with respective DNS records. For each resource-related identifier that is supposed to have a corresponding DNS record, based on the result of analyzing the respective configuration parameter data items and respective DNS records, AMC can determine whether the resource-related identifier has a corresponding DNS record stored in the DNS name server indicated by the metadata item. AMC can generate an audit report comprising a missing DNS record data item for each DNS record determined to be missing.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, providing a request associated with a call session to a server, wherein the request includes capability information associated with user equipment. A codec is identified according to the capability information to obtain an identified codec, which facilitates media service to the user equipment. The media service is accessed from a media resource function, which in turn, is accessed by the server responsive to the identified codec. An operable resource identifier is identified responsive to a search of a codec table, wherein the server accesses the operable resource identifier associated with the media resource function from a domain name server responsive to the resource identifier not being available at the codec table. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract:
Concepts and technologies pertaining to enabling internet protocol carrier peering to foreign network domains are provided. A method includes identifying, by a computer system executing within an originating carrier network, a plurality of numbering plan area identifiers corresponding to a receiving carrier network. The method further includes accessing, by the computer system executing within the originating carrier network based on the plurality of numbering plan area identifiers, a plurality of numbering plan area zone file records stored on a private enabled telephone number mapping server. The method also includes creating, by the computer system executing within the originating carrier network, a single instance of a name authority pointer record placeholder within each of the plurality of numbering plan area zone file records stored on the private enabled telephone number mapping server.
