    摘要: In a cognitive radio environment with at least three cognitive radio terminals, terminals 1 and 2 have an active link. Terminal 3 estimates the link quality, and if it is deemed good terminal 3 transmits over the frequency band in use on the link. Terminal 3 then monitors the link between terminals 1 and 2 to quantify its interference on it. If no interference is detected terminal 3 can increase its power. If terminals 1 and 2 change their modulation terminal 3 deems its interference too severe and either reduces power or finds another frequency band. Terminal 3 can use blind modulation detection for the link between terminals 1 and 2, and estimate link quality based on the type of modulation in use.

    摘要: The invention relates to link establishment in a wireless communication terminal. In order to obtain flexible and low power connections between a wireless terminal belonging to a short-range wireless network and an external wireless communication device not belonging to that network, a protection frame is sent either from the wireless communication terminal or from the external wireless communication device. The protection frame includes duration information used for virtual carrier-sensing in the short-range wireless network. In response to the protection frame, data is transferred between the wireless communication terminal and the external wireless communication device during a time period indicated by the duration information.

    摘要: The invention relates to a mechanism for decreasing power consumption in a wireless terminal intended for a communication system where availability of a common air medium is to be determined by the terminal prior to transmission. The terminal selects at least one communication device as a communicating peer and adjusts receiver performance based on received signal strength and optionally other parameters measured from at least one of the at least one wireless communication device, the receiver performance being adjusted for listening to the at least one wireless communication device with reduced power consumption. The terminal further generates an indication when its own transmission is approaching and readjusts the receiver performance for determining the availability of the common air medium at a performance level enabling detection of devices that may be disturbed by said own transmission.
