    Abstract: A display device may include rows of pixels that may display image data on a display and a circuit. The circuit may perform a progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data using a plurality of pixels, supply test data to a pixel of plurality of pixels that corresponds to a first row of the rows of pixels during one frame of the progressive scan, and initiate a sensing period for determining one or more sensitivity properties associated with the pixel based on the performance of the pixel with respect to the test data in response to receiving a pulse of a first global signal. The circuit may then end the sensing period in response to receiving a second global signal and resume the progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data after the sensing period ends.

    Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices with displays. A display may include an array of display pixels each having a drive transistor and an organic light-emitting diode. A pulse-width-modulated current may be provided to the organic light-emitting diode during each display frame to compensate for an on-bias compensation applied to the drive transistor between display frames. The pulse-width-modulated current may be provided with a pulse-width-modulation ratio that decreases over the course of each display frame. The decrease of the pulse-width-modulation ratio for each display frame may be determined based on a peak luminance for that display frame. The reduction in flicker provided by the pulse-width-modulated current may facilitate operation of the display with a reduced refresh rate, thereby reducing power consumption by the display.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for differential sensing (DS), difference-differential sensing (DDS), correlated double sampling (CDS), and/or programmable capacitor matching to reduce display panel sensing noise. An electronic device may include one or more processors and an electronic display. The one or more processors may generate image data and adjust the image data based at least in part on display sensing feedback. The electronic display may employ sensing circuitry that obtains the display sensing feedback at least in part by applying test data to a pixel of a column of an active area of the display and differentially senses an electrical value of the pixel in comparison to a reference signal from a different column. This reference signal may provide a common mode noise reference, which is removed by the differential sensing and thereby enhances a quality of the sensed electrical value of the pixel.

    Abstract: A display may have gate driver circuitry that include a series of linked gate driver circuits each of which has an output and has an input coupled to the output of a preceding one of the gate driver circuits. Bootstrapping circuitry may be provided in the gate driver circuitry. Each gate driver circuit may have a bootstrapping circuit that includes transistors and a bootstrapping capacitor. Bootstrapping efficiency may be enhanced by configuring the bootstrapping capacitor to reduce parasitic capacitances. A transistor in each bootstrapping circuit may have first and second source-drain terminals, and a gate terminal that lies between the first and second source-drain terminals and that runs parallel to the first and second source-drain terminals. The bootstrapping capacitor may have a first electrode formed from the gate terminal and a second electrode that overlaps the first electrode and that lies between the first and second source-drain terminals.

    Abstract: An electronic device may include a display such as a light-emitting diode display. The electronic device may be a head-mounted device that provides a virtual reality or augmented reality environment to a user. To reduce artifacts in the display, a display may be operable in both a normal scanning mode and a partial scanning mode. In the normal scanning mode, every row of the display may be scanned in each frame. In the partial scanning mode, only a subset of the rows of the display may be scanned in each frame. The display may have a higher refresh rate in the partial scanning mode than in the normal scanning mode. The gate driver circuitry may include a shift register that includes a plurality of register circuits. At least one register circuit may have a first input and a second input that is different than the first input.
