Abstract: A vehicle-share relationship management system is presented herein. The vehicle-share relationship management system includes a short-range wireless communication (SRWC) module, mobile computing device, vehicle communication platform (VCP), and remote entity. The SRWC is located in a vehicle and configured to communicate with the mobile computing device and at least one vehicle system. The VCP is located within the vehicle, the VCP configured to communicably couple with the SRWC module and configured to generate one or more data transmissions. The remote entity configured to receive the one or more VCP data transmissions. Moreover, the SRWC module collaborates with the vehicle system and mobile computing device to generate one or more notices, the SRWC module subsequently collaborates with the VCP to transmit the one or more notices to the remote entity. In response to the one or more notices, the remote entity communicates one or more notifications to the VCP.

Abstract: A system and method of selectively carrying out a vehicle passive door lock function. The method carried out by the system includes: (a) detecting a vehicle operator's exit from a vehicle having at least one lockable door for passenger entry and exit, wherein the vehicle is configured to automatically carry out a passive operator departure process following the operator's exit, (b) determining whether the vehicle is at a lock function exempt location; (c) automatically carrying out the passive operator departure process in a first mode when it is determined that the vehicle is not at the exempt location; and (d) automatically carrying out the passive operator departure process in a second mode when it is determined that the vehicle is at the exempt location, wherein the second mode comprises at least one less door lock function than is carried out in the first mode.

Abstract: A method and system for assisting a vehicle when traveling within an area experiencing a meteorological event capable of potentially flooding a roadway is disclosed. The assistance may include determining a water level over top of the roadway, determining a plurality of surface water related operating parameters for the vehicle, and comparing the water level to the surface water related operating parameters to generate a flooded roadway assessment. The flooded roadway assessment may be used for determining the roadway to be in one of a passable state and an impassable state for the vehicle. Based thereon, a flooded roadway command may be generated for correspondingly controlling one or more systems onboard the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for managing a set of fleet vehicles includes a central command unit having a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The fleet vehicles have one or more respective electronic components and respective vehicle controllers adapted to perform self-diagnosis of their respective electronic components. The central command unit is adapted to receive notification of the self-diagnosis and classify the respective electronic components as working ones and non-working ones. The central command unit is adapted to perform component matching, including polling inventory across the fleet vehicles. Working ones of the respective electronic components are selectively redistributed for reuse across the fleet vehicles. In some embodiments, at least one of the fleet vehicles is designated as a master vehicle and the central command unit is stored in the master vehicle. In other embodiments, the central command unit is stored in a cloud computing service.

Abstract: An obstacle detection and notification system for a motorcycle. The processor executes program instructions to execute processes including: receiving video from the of the forward looking camera and the backward looking camera, performing a computer vision and machine learning based object detection and tracking process to detect, classify and track obstacles in the video and to output detected object data, defining a blind spot region around one or more other vehicles using the detected object data, determining whether the motorcycle is located in the blind spot region, and outputting audible, tactile or visual feedback, via an output system, to a rider of the motorcycle when the motorcycle is determined to be located in the blind spot region.

Abstract: A method of authorizing access and operation for vehicle sharing via a portable device. A request reservation is generated to reserve a vehicle via a portable device carried by a user. The reservation includes a portable device identifier and reservation details. Authentication keys are transmitted to the portable device and a plug-in device coupled to the vehicle in response to a successful authorization. The plug-in device is used to perform vehicle access and vehicle operations of the vehicle. The authentication keys enable the portable device and the plug-in device to be paired for enabling vehicle access and operations. An authorization is executed between the portable device carried by a user and a plug-in device coupled to the vehicle. Access to the vehicle operations are enabled in response to a successful authorization.
